Random Commanders Thoughts

Happier with the loss than your prospects of finding new ownership, coach and franchise qb. I'm not happy with the loss but I'm not going to allow myself to be miserable about it.
Glad to see so many happy with a loss.

Amazing.

I'm cracking up at reading that people actually believe that Colt played a similar game to RG3.

It's like we must have watched 2 totally different football games. I don't even see how that is possible. Sure Colt could have played better but it wasn't even close to the train wreck that all of the RG3 starts have been.

Colt gets sacked 6 times on 47 pass attempts, RG3 gets sacked 6 times on 19 pass attempts

Colt passes for 392 yards, RG3 passes for 106 yards

Colt throws 3TD's, RG3 throws 2TD's in 2014 TOTAL in all of his starts.

I stopped pretending that RG3 could run an NFL offense after he put up 7 vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31st ranked defense 2 weeks ago while directly giving them 10 points. Maybe he can come back next year after learning the offense. Sure Grudens playcalling sucks too but RG3 is now 0-2 with coaches and he is probably directly responsible for the last coach getting shit canned so how many offenses and head coaches should the team go through in order to justify what is so far the biggest draft bust in NFL history?

I'm equally amused by people like you who can't see the obvious...that RG3 is damaged goods BECAUSE of this pathetic coaching and the extreme lack of talent surrounding all along the line. Greatest rookie season of all time, Heisman trophy winner and literally had the ENTIRE league in awe of the guy, yet we turn him into a complete scrub in a matter of a year. Now the lame tack is that he's a slacker and stupid. That doesn't pass the sniff test and is comedic in and of itself.

Oh and it's also amusing to keep reading comments about how the read option doesn't work in the NFL. No it's not wise to run it exclusively but Seattle and Philly use it a TON to GREAT success. Key difference is those teams value line play and protecting their QB. Those teams have scouting departments that don't suck and they value and listen to. Those teams know how to build from the inside out. Those teams wouldn't be so stupid and desperate as to play an obviously injured Trent Williams thereby risking the ONE perennial all pro/pro bowler we have on the team.

The list of reasons this team is an embarrassment is long and distinguished, but it cracks me up watching the stupidity of this RG3 debate being displayed over and over and over. He doesn't want to run the R.O.? Well duh, who in their right mind would want to behind this line with this idiotic coaching staff and F.O.? Ask him that question now (as opposed to right after he blew out his ACL) that he's struggling with the conversion and ask him if he'd be into it if it was for a team that would actually protect their quarterback. I'd bet a paycheck the answer is different this time.

I turned 44 this weekend and for the first time in my life I am seriously close to being done with this team. I feel like a moron for supporting them.

That's possible. Trying to make it look like we still have any interest in him to try and drive up trade value is another possibility.

doubt it...though I really, really, really wish we would trade him to Philly (for the redskin standard 4th rnd pick) so a coach who knew what the eff he was doing and a real organization would rebuild him. Griffin could return the next 10 years to crush this sorry organization's arse twice every season - any organization that believes the answer is Colt McCoy deserves to have its asrse kicked up and down the field every game. and it will. anyone who believes that next season is going to be much better is smoking some seriously strong stuff! this team is in total disarray. It's clear as all day that THERE IS CURRENLTY NO LONG TERM PLAN IN PLACE. with an owner who will likely be in place for at least another 25 years...it's not looking good.

Brilliant post CT. You captured what a lot of people are thinking/feeling.

sorry all.

Colt McCoy. bahahahahaahahahahahahaha. lmao at the fact this franchise has sunk so low that some fans can't call a turd a turd any longer. praise be the lord! we have another QB who fumbles, tosses picks/near picks in the end zone, can't move the team when it counts, who apparently can be sacked with amazing regularity as well...but...hey....look at those stats when the game doesn't count for squat anymore! we have a real winner on our hands! let's solidify this stupid three step passing offense of Gruden's around him cuz he's a proven winner!

still lmao! my eyes are tearing up. you're killing me fellas! I love improv as much as the next guy....keep the hits coming!

I'm ashamed to say that my fandom has dropped off so far now that I actually forgot the team was even playing yesterday and I've not watched any NFL for weeks now. I'm about done and hope a 2012 ish season comes next year or 2ho knows if I can get a small spark back.

Karageorge has gotta hurt worse

Yea it stings pretty bad, I so feel for the kid, his family and friends and suicide is a special sore spot for me as my best friend died that way. But I was speaking more from a football perspective. OSU's star was so bright before that play, still could be but man what a let down.

After reading my post again I have to go off on a bit of a rant about one part of it...

WTF was Trent Williams doing in the game? The guy OBVIOUSLY was injured, hell he couldn't even plant on one leg and was so obviously gimpy all game long. In fact I'd submit he didn't do much better than the scrubs we have backing him up. He made costly penalty mistakes and allowed rushers to get around the edge all game long, he so obviously was a step off. So my question (screamed loudly if they were present) would be WTF were you morons thinking? Did you learn NOTHING from the playoff game we lost RG3? The game was meaningless (we have zero hope this year...ZERO) and they were playing a 3rd string QB. WTF were they taking a chance with the ONLY talent we have on that line? He wasn't "dinged", he wasn't hurt, he was injured; the guy couldn't plant his foot dangit! Sit him and heal him. Christ on a crutch this team is STUPID!

Sorry I know I'm a mod and supposed to keep my cool and act civilized but this is beyond the pale. I can't believe more outrage hasn't been expressed. Most people are probably just numb and "meh" like me at this stage though.

I can get behind this statement. It's a fair knock on Gruden...I know he wants a win but one would think he knows better.

Some random thoughts about the game (hey thats what the threads called!)

1. Colt played much better from the mid point of the second quarter when we started challenging the defense and throwing the ball downfield. Up to that point everything had been short and clearly designed to take pressure off the pass protection. Thing is the Colts had 10 men within 10 yards of the LOS so nothing was working. Lets start games in that aggressive mode and play to win rather than hoping not to lose.

2. Everyone will (rightly) say the defense lost this game. But the offense scored 3 points off 3 Colts turnovers all which gave us excellent field position, one inside the Colts 20. Offense has to score more than 3 points there.

3 Trent Williams should not have been on the field. He was playing on one leg.

4. David Amerson is having a rough year. He blew coverages on 3 of the TDs yesterday and teams are picking on him in coverage generally. He is LOST in zone coverage. Much better in man.

5. The blown coverages are a joke. At some point thats about coaching not players. That point is a distant speck in the rear view mirror. We need a total clear oit of the defensive coaching staff.

6. I hated the decision to go for it on 4th down - but I understood it. Gruden did not trust the defense to get a stop. I did not mind the play call but the execution was terrible - had to be a blown protection scheme. Another blown assignment.

7. The decision to go play action on 4th and less than 1 by the way tells you all need to know about our O'Line.

8. The attempt at a tackle by Ryan Clark on the run and catch by Fleener for a TD would be embarrassing in a High School game.

I will leave the last word to my 12 year old son. Dont forget hes English and while he's a very good soccer player he does not really watch NFL. He knows the basic rules though and he watched the game with me yesterday (I assume his PS4 has blown up or something). At the end of the game he turned to me and said about the Redskins 'They are not very good are they" ...

I wasn't overly impressed with McCoy, but he did play better than Griffin the past couple of weeks. His arm is just weak and not accurate at times, but he usually made the right decisions which is a plus.

I could live with Colt's weak arm, and it's not an issue with me.
Because after seeing RG3 frequently overthrow balls, that are so out of reach they're not catchable - at least Colt's weak underthrows are catchable, as I've seen DJ make adjustments and pull them in for big plays.

Jackson got hurt due to a horribly under thrown ball.

It's not a fluke when we all know he can't throw it that far.

.

I saw a random tweet yesterday from someone at the paper that shall not be named in which he said. teams have finally figured out they should run two WRs at Amerson because he gets confused on whom to cover. I'm not football expert, but that seems to jive with what you are saying.
