That is some serious ink. Well thought out, and executed. Thank God I'm tighter then a clams ass with money or I'd have a bunch of ink. That stuff is big time money these days. I've considered making a needle / rig and doing some work on myself, as most artists do, but my wife would cut my... well, you know.

I know right, I thought that was one of the most unique designs I've ever seen on a forearm. Whoever that is has some serious skills!

So are you pretty good at drawing? I know if I tried inking myself it'd be comparable to a grade schoolers art. I have a few tats, nothing crazy tho. Then again I retire from the military in a few months and it's quite possibly on after that tho....giggity.

Got lucky with the significant other, she has more than me.

I'd say I'm above average when it comes to drawing. Could have gone to just about any good school of art, and had wanted to teach. Canned it when I realized how little teachers make. The cool part is, not too many artists freehand on your body. Draw out the design on transfer paper, apply it, and color between the lines. I did glass engraving for some time too, so it's kind of right up my ally.

Oh well you should definitely take it up then. I have no idea what a tattoo artist makes but being able to express yourself thru inking would be therapeutic I'd think. You're lucky, every time I paint or draw it comes out like abstract stick figures lol.

Are there any art institutes in your area that you could possibly teach at?

Curious, when you do/did glass etching is that with a template or kinda like freehand with an engraver type of tool?
 
It really depended on what the engraving was. Did a bunch of fly windows on street rods with flowers and vines, and other small jobs, which I would do freehand most often. Larger more detailed work I did like rear windows, I would draw out on roll paper. Then I would put it on my light box, and trace it onto contact type paper with an adhesive backing. Once applied, I engraved through the stencil, then did the shading an detail freehand. I was using a simple sears electric engraver. I also did some sandblasted pieces with stencils, but those were less detailed. I did a lot of mirrors. The have these cool torch type rig that you can do sick work on glass, but never had a chance to get or use one.

My high school had a huge art department, and was teaching at a college level in the 70's. I did every course the offered at least twice, and two three times. I use to work in so many medias. Now, not so much LOL
 
MM, did you take any pics of your etching work? I'd love to see some if u did.

I always envy those with artistic talent, mostly because it sure as heck skipped me lol.

Hard to miss mama and the two cubs. Like I said before, you live in one of the places that I could only imagine. In Fl, you can only shoot so many sunrises and sunsets before you get tired of it. Not much more when it comes to scenery. Some really beautiful shots...

Yeah, that is one of the good things about being in Maryland...lot of variety. I have to get to Alaska, but I will do a Safari in Tanzania and hit Kilimanjaro first.


I post a lot of pics of the boy...well, the girl is here now.
