Actually, I think he was on the field for another snap, and he lined up on the wrong side of the formation causing a penalty. Gruden mentioned that Hankerson was put in on the goal line and lined up on the wrong side. There was a penalty for illegal formation in the goal line set that I believe was credited to Compton. If that is the same play, that would be two penalties and no catches.
 
A lot of Redskins fans have said(numerous times over the years) that they would have patience if the team went full rebuild.

I have never believed these people as you can see right now, fans want a first year head coach canned( or are hinting at it), midway through his first season.

Gruden may or may not be the answer but nobody knows that 10 games in with a roster this putrid.

Trust me, I want to win as much as the next fan and I'm just as frustrated .... Frustrated isn't the right word.

Anymore these days,when I think about the Washington Redskins, I just get....tired, fatigued, worn out.

But I can't honestly say this is all on Gruden.......yet.

This offseason will be very telling......
 
Bulldog, just to play devils advocate here, it's hard to point at Gruden after you just mentioned how bad Griffin's execution is. I don't feel that playcalling is the issue here... not when we've seen the players open, just to fail to execute the blocking scheme and/or put the ball on the WR.

It took me longer than that to write this. Now go play football and execute with that little time.
 
When he missed Jax twice, the failed screen to Jax, the ball off Reeds hands on a slant, he wasn't under pressure. I understand your point and not placing the whole blame on Griffin, he was just the example I used for execution. Paul handed the ball to the defender. The right side of the O-Line has been a liability in pass pro, and the left side has been a liability in the run game. Morris single handedly turned a 5 yard loss into a first down and goal. I'm sure Gruden's play call didn't include the DE blowing up the RG and ending up in Morris' lap.
 
It's exactly what you're doing. We've discussed it and I get you are concerned about him..but he was hit a lot that game and no player stepped up to help any more than he did. He made great plays with his feet, hit people while running for his life, and played as best he could behind that shit house called a line.

Jackson slowed down on the second deep ball and he missed by half a step on the first. People acting like that pass is routine are just too used to seeing highlights and think it's easy.

What do you mean that you have no reason to understand anything different brother? Because key players continue to do exactly the opposite of what Gruden wants them to do - they aren't listening to him. That indicates to me a lack of respect for him, a lack of belief that there's anything he can do about it, or both. Sorry, but I'm not impressed with Gruden's handling of his players to date. He can continue with his 'straight talk express' routine in pressers, but he doesn't have control of this locker room or even his top players. He'd better get control, because this kind of bullshit is what got Mike Shanahan fired.
 
No i wasn't, Bulldog mention Griffin not executing, followed by Gruden not calling plays... You cant have one without the other. Gruden's playcalling will look horrible when they guys playing dont execute. When Gruden calls a slant, Griffin has to execute the pass. When Gruden calls a sweep right, the O-Line needs to get push. IF neither of those things happen in said scenarios, it fails the play. Griffin has a lot of the execution blame because he touches the ball more times then anyone on the field except the center. O-line needs to execute better. Jackson ran a crossing route and was wide open, problem is Griffin couldnt see him cuz he was running for his life. That doesn't go un-noticed.

Did Griff have any intermediate passes that were caught yesterday? The kind that go for twelve to eighteen yards and the receiver may pick up some extra yardage or tackled at the point of reception? I'm not talking about screens as the one we saw before the end of the first half. Talking about the intermediate routes.

Any? I can't recall a single intermediate pass that was caught.

who is doing the opposite of what he wants them to do? Griffin? Griffin has been in the public social media scene since long before Gruden was a part of his life, and Gruden has no problem telling him he was wrong in what he said, at least publicly.
 
If I were Gruden, I'd call a team meeting tomorrow. I'd announce to the team that we aren't allowed to fine players for 'speaking their mind' on social media. But it's the coaches decision who plays and who doesn't, and any team-related post on social media, whether cryptic or obvious, would result in that player being benched, regardless of who posts it. Any comment about other player's performance to the media - same result. Period. You have a problem with someone, you speak it openly in the locker room. And I'd dare someone to test me on it.

Bullshit needs to stop now.

Garcon, Jackson, Griffin - hell, half the team making comments on social media about shit that if it should be aired at all, should stay in the lockerroom. Telling him he is 'wrong' after the fact isn't enough. You're the head coach of an NFL franchise. Actions have consequences. He needs to grow a pair and put an end to this drama bullshit. If he can't even manage that, he is not the right guy for the job.
 
I'm with you 100%. This is exhausting. There have been more conversations today bout Griffin, Jackson, and how Gruden is 'supposed' to be handling it, then there have been about actual football subjects. I've come into more responsibility at my job lately and I've sat at my desk trying to wrap my head around some of the things you have to tell people. Things that SHOULD be common sense, and you hear things said, and watch actions and wonder to yourself how the HELL do they not know better then that? I cant imagine Gruden has it much differently right now because we have a lack of internal locker room leadership. Maybe he's holding out hoping someone takes that responsibility. We all know respect is not just given, it's earned when it comes to a peer standpoint... and a truly vocal leader can be a big help to a lot of this 'drama' we're dealing with right now.

There was a pass to Andre Roberts for a first down. I looked up the game log and it was for 13 yards. I don't remember if it was a short pass or not. I seem to recall Roberts getting tackled within a few yards, if not immediately. Even if that was an intermediate pass, it's still sad that we can only remember at most 1.
 
Last post said, it is his responsibility to manage the locker room, as well as the "X's and O's" im not discounting that. He's as responsible for this frustration as anybody on the field because it's his job to make sure they're prepared to execute.
 
I can take a lot as a fan, but I'm not going to continue to root for and emotionally (and otherwise) invest in a team where all we ever have is drama, drama, drama. I'm just not. And I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment. I think a lot of fans are reaching a breaking point. I actually agree with Brian Mitchell on all this for God's sake. And that genuinely frightens me. I never imagined walking away from being a Redskins fan. But I'm not too far from it at the moment, I've got to be honest.

on that deep ball...it may have been unreachable....but DJax didn't make a leaping effort to catch it either.

Thanks. Obviously, the questions were fairly rhetorical. However, I wasn't totally sure. I think a stat like that one speaks volumes about the offense.
