Random Commanders Thoughts

Now yer talkin'.

We're being pre-punished for the next multi-year decade of dominance.

Which means we get the dominance, and will already have served our penance.

Best thought of the day.

tired of talking abt Griffin learning the basics. my only take-away...to my surprise...is that he isn't a rapid learner.

ok....big investment. new system. big challenge. if we have to wait for this to happen. so be it. but we are going to get a return on this investment. Gruden is going to have to find the most expeditious path. One day..whether now or down the road...I want to tune in on the idiot box and see the same thing I see with Brady and PManning: good or mediocre talent around him...a QB who is in command the moment he steps on the field; a QB the other team is afraid of; a QB who executes the miraculous whenever everyone else has left for another beer and club sandwich.

it will happen. he has all the physical and mental abilities. it's just gonna take a while longer than originally hoped. all the tools are there. it is...oddly...what's between his ears that strikes me as the biggest problem at the moment.

Right. So 1st game, of the 1st season, of coaches trying to covert him to a more pocket passing type NFL QB. He completes most of his passes. Throwing accurately from what little pocket he had to work with a majority of the time. Getting crush on a few occasions, standing in the pocket, knowing the hit is coming, many times in only 2 seconds, according to Keim, and still delivering accurate passes most of the day. Yet somehow, he isn't a rapid enough learner.

I swear, reading the enterwebz, and listening to sports talk radio, where no controversy is too ridiculous to try and start, it seems poor dumb Robert Griffin can't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions printed on the heel.

Dont forget learning a new offense and/or terminology

Maybe I missed the discussion... but did anyone else realize that Griffin was NOT voted captain... it was Trent Williams?

I thought every group had a captain?

that is odd.

That's because his teammates all hate him, the coaching staff thinks he is useless and the fans despise him.

The GM was ranting and raving over the dude who carved them up for 80 yards.

I thought captain was for the leader on offense, not the best player.

Well you have a good point, but I guess every team could name their QBs as the captain.

But who has led Minnesota? Adrian Peterson, right? In that line of thinking, who led the Redskins last season, and in the first game this year? Alfred, Trent and Garçon, right?

He might be in more of a learning phase temporarily, rather than a leading phase.

I dont think anyone is saying the QB is the only choice, but it is the normal one. And when he isn't it is because there is a clear leader other than the QB. I dont think Trent is really that vocal of a leader...but, who knows. He could be.

But its definitely a message to Robert taking it away from him.

I woudn't have even mentioned it, had he not had the 'C' last year.... That's the part that stands out to me. I'm not saying it's a BAD thing, I just hadn't seen it mentioned. In fact, I like the move. Griff needs to focus on Griff getting better. I think Trent is a better fit as the captain. I draw a lot of parallels to Alex Ovechkin. Ovi shouldn't have the 'C' on his sweater because I think it restricts him. I think it'll be good for Griff. I was just surprised more wasn't made of it.

OT: May be a dumb question but what in the blue hell is this. " woah ohhh ohhh oooohhhh ohh" chant that keeps popping up at most sporting events?

Maybe it's the curmudgeon coming out in me but it sounds dumb as hell.

It's from a popular song that was out a few months ago. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the band this second.

I don't know jack about hockey but I love the idea. He comes off as a me guy to a certain degree so hopefully he's been put on notice that it's not acceptable for a franchise qb for a shitty franchise to be a me guy.

You can reply here if you like... about him not being a me guy... I did say to a certain degree and we have cited a hundred examples in the past.

A few weeks ago I wouldn't have said to a certain degree so of course I think that there is hope still.
