5th Annual BGO Ballers Fantasy Football League

BB, and anyone else who cares, here is my first bit of advice. And there will always be 1 out of 1,000 exceptions, but generally speaking:

1. The starting RB for the worst team in the league will be better than a second string RB on another team. Why? In the words of a great player, Boone, "he'll get the rock."

Helu is awesome. But he may get 8 touches a game.

A starting RB on a bum team will still get 15 touches a game, and therefore, will provide you more opportunity to score points.

Remember everybody: if you have any seachickens or cheeseheads, make sure you have your lineups set by tomorrow afternoon! Don't leave anybody on the bench!

Rule #2.

According to Matthew Berry, 79% of the teams that won their titles last season only had one QB, and only one TE.

Barring catastrophic injury, and the odds are that will happen to one or two QBs this season, there is no point in having a backup ride your bench all year.

You are going to need a backup QB for one game this year. Mediocre QBs will be available for you to pick up for that one week.

Rule #3.

You have a great defense. You picked them. It's understandable that you prefer them.

However, let's be honest. Unless you have the Seattle Seahawks, and your D is about to play Denver, you are probably going to get lit up.

Look at your roster. Who is the least desirable player on there?

Now look at the league. Who has the crappiest offense? Is it Oakland? Jacksonville? Buffalo?

When your D is about to face a great team, consider releasing (even temporarily) the worst player on your roster in favor of whatever defense is playing that crappy team.

I've won numerous games with this strategy. I took down our wonderful commish (who probably had a better team overall last season) by doing exactly that.

You can change the lineup after a Thursday game?

Players can be changed until their team's game has started. So lineups can be changed as long as they don't involve a Sea or GB player after Thursday.

Ah, so I will just keep Russell Wilson benched and keep Drew Brees as the starter. Ok, thanks.

And on a bye week I can bench those not playing and bring them back the next week - correct?

Yessir. You can swap things around as much as you like until their team plays for the week at hand. On Tuesday, you can swap everybody around again.

We need to have a talk. Dead Money is the man, and two-time defending champion. Neo also kicks ass.

However, as the highest point scorer in two out of the three BGO seasons, I'm willing to offer any 2nd or 3rd place advice I can give to try and help.
Remember, there are many ways to skin a cat. No McD I'm not calling you a pussy. ;) but, everybody has "their way."

Green is a starter right now so he's more valuable. If you have someone who is the starter you can choose Helu if you think there's a chance Moris gets hurt but that's kinda jinxy. :(

Furthermore Redskins are Redskins and Fantasy and your team should be treated like church and state IMO. We all know you guys are the biggest Redskins fans on the planet, there is no reason to prove it to us with your Fantasy team. Now following this logic should you draft all of our most hated rivals' star players? No but you shouldn't avoid them like the plague either. You can just sit them when they play us if you feel so dirty about it.

All this is fine but there is just so much luck involved. Do whatever will make you enjoy it the most. Ax seems to have a good time drafting the entire Redskins team every year so who am I to judge ;)

I love FF and not just for the winning. Although it doesn't hurt! Tonight it's on gents good luck to you all!

Was this all season or just when they won the championship? I disagree with not having a backup especially with all the running qbs.

If there is one thing I have learned playing with this group over the last 4 years it is that no matter what your team looks like you can do well. I nearly won it all a couple of years ago with starting RBs that wouldn't have gotten off anyone else's bench, a mediocre WR corp but two TE's and a K that were lighting it up week after week. Granted, that was probably a corner case but you will have to make adjustments during the season for guys that get injured or are just under performing. Don't get stuck in the mindset that you have to have stud running backs to win. I had the best group of backs in the league last year and still lost the championship to DM when every single guy on my roster wet the bed in Week 16 of the season.

The advice of "experts" is nice and I listen to a lot of it but at the end of the day it's my roster and I make the moves that I think best. I have carried two QBs and two TEs every year I have played and like DM, I disagree with not carrying 2 in most cases.

Not gonna lie, I would personally lean towards anybody versus the cowpukes.

I got rid of Brady so as not to torture myself and this weeks matchup is just really tempting to dump Arod for the week. I love/hate this part of it. But you're right, the bums defense is looking sketchy as hell, I never really liked Krapernick, but I see him running wild in this game and throwing on that yugo with chrome rims back four.

Silently laughing while the youngsters google yugo.

Google it. ;)

And there you have it folks. Aaron Rodger should post the highest fantasy score ever tonight. Krapernick gets the nod this week. I had to do something to offset the Demarco Murray juju. ;)
