These numbers come from an independent review. Assumptions play no role in it whatsoever - it's a simple study of how many players became starters within 5 years of being drafted. I get that every team is different, and that drives the circumstances behind their draft strategy - but that is immaterial to what I posted. These are facts. Among other things...I perform statistical/big data analysis for a living. the numbers don't mean anything. they're being used to say "see....the Redskins aren't any different from other teams when it comes to keeping/letting go draft picks." my point...aside from the fact that numbers never mean anything....is that analysis that weaves facts/numbers into a narrative or causal explanation is ultimately what counts. it's useless information. I'm not invested in the incompetency argument...I'm arguing the point that these stats mean anything. they don't.

as before...on to other...more important matters.

btw...being typical is also meaningless...absent a standard. all teams could be typically incompetent.

I don't have a problem with three late picks not making the team. That happens all the time with every team.

I do have to scratch my head and wonder why the hell we keep drafting RBs. Clearly we don't need them all. Clearly, we can't possibly keep them all. Clearly, our running back corps is already very deep and not even close to an area of any need whatsoever. So ... what the hell? Of COURSE we're gonna end up letting one or two of those guys go. We have no choice.

In that respect, I consider a (yet another) late-round RB pick a waste. I get BPA but at some point there's gotta be someone is SOME other position we can pick there, can't there be?

Bleh. If we win none of that matters. Let's just freaking win.

Yeah, Henry. Just... yeah. Thought the same thing at the draft. We don't need RBs. Let's take a closer look at OLine next year please. Projects or not, we need lotsa depth.

Well, last year, we crushed a guy who was previously a 1-hit wonder, and basically ended his career, when we played Matt Flynn.

Does that count ?

I did a little research on this subject and found that we had more QB's in the NFL from 2002-2012 win games when their first start was against us, than any other team in the NFL over that time period.

The beat reporter from the nameless paper was on the Junkies this morning and talked about his expectation to develop an early rhythm. Said he wouldnt be surprised if Gruden is in Griffin's ear telling him not to worry about doing any checking at the line pre-snap and it's going to be a heavy dose of Morris early.

On another note he also mentioned that its come out (and i take it with a grain of salt since he's not actually IN meeting rooms) that he's heard about Gruden being very open with Griffin in positive as well as negative situations in the public forum. He has not hesitated to point out issues at the hands of Griffin, and Griffin has been very responsive. Take what you will, but it's refreshing to hear that, then the alternative.

Him against Polumbus could very well ruin our game

he had some good hits but he was being blocked only by RBs when he got his free shots. He is going to be good..but we'll see how fast we can get rid of the ball. I'm more worried about 99

We may be fortunately catching him at the low point of his career. This kid will be a good one and he Watt will be a nasty combo for a long time.

The new Deadspin, "Why your team sucks" articles are out.

The one on our team is especially brutal. Possibly the most brutal article I've ever seen about the Redskins, and one that has me convinced that last season was the worst of all. Even the comments are scathing.

Like all of the articles in that series, parts of it were hysterical. And also cathartic in that it's now in the past.
