5th Annual BGO Ballers Fantasy Football League

Ok. thanks for all of the help - including the private messages. I wanted to see the responses publically - nothing against private advice, but wanted to make sure that we are all on the same deal. Again, thanks a bunch.

I tried a mock draft; we got 30 seconds a pick. It really isn't much time if you are not prepared. Try one or more.
BGO's is 1 min 30 sec's per pick but better to practice a little faster. Besides, most aren't going to take that long to make their pick anyway.

There is also a 'Can't Cut' list. If you draft a player on this list and he gets injured, you can't drop him. Maybe 25 or so on this list. I'd recommend a look at it. It is under the 'Players' tab.

I would highly recommend people that have not drafted with the new Yahoo console to run a mock draft even if for a few rounds, just to see how it works.

Can't Cut list has players removed from it if they are injured so as to miss games, or if they are playing badly. They do update it every week, just to make sure people are completely screwed.

Just curious with this bump. Curious as to how we replace injured as well. Or new pick ups.

If you want to talk Fantasy to ask anything at all I would help in anyway possible by PM, FB, email, whatever... Hit me up if you need anything at all. This goes for anyone new to FF or with little experience...

I'm a fan of doing the the mock drafts, if for only on reason at all, it will show you at the end how being unprepared can have you end up with a dumpster fire of a team and also being as prepared as you can also ending up with a dumpster fire of a team.

There is a tremendous amount of luck involved with this whole thing, but knowing not to take Steven Jackson in the first Round can save your season. :wink-new:

I look at fantasy as being a way to still enjoy football when you have nothing left to cheer for. Being a Redskins fan, I have become very addicted to Fantasy as Im sure a few others here have too. Simply stated, Fantasy football will give you something to root for or against for every game of the NFL season no matter how your favorite team is doing. Love it.

One of the mocks I was in took Dez Bryant 2nd overall. They were a special snowflake.

Try a real draft that had the following:

Philip Rivers in the 3rd
Dan Bailey in the 7th
Hauschka and Gotskowski in the 9th

Kickers should be taken last or next to last. But even if you really love a kicker, taking him in a single digit round is just indefensible.

The girl who took Rivers drafts him just about every year. I guess she didn't realize she could get him much, much later.

1 day to the League #1 draft! Remember to make sure your computer works well with the live draft, and to be there before the start time! 7PM EDT is when it starts, not when you want to start logging in. I plan to be on the draft chat as soon as I can get in (up to an hour ahead of time) and will be on the FedExField chat here for any questions people have.

Good luck to everybody in League #1 in the draft!

I'n totally winging this draft tomorrow. I haven't studied at all this season.

...sometimes that's the best plan...

well, that's what my bosses run with anyway...

Anyone think I will have a shot at Leseasn McCoy with the 8th pick?

Hey, where is the link? If I intend to practice today and then draft tomorrow, then a link would certainly be helpful. Thanks a bunch.

Direct links to each league have been added to the first post. Mock Draft is under the "Draft Central" drop down menu.

I will say this though: Mock drafts are so much easier to get who I want versus our drafts. I know I couldn't build some of the teams I've drafted on here versus you guys....

I will just watch tomorrow as I can't figure out how to draft or even practice with it. Just let the computer pick for me and I will learn for next year.

I'm just going to take this year as a learning opportunity. Thanks. :)

No way BB. You'll regret that for the entire year. I'm going to help you, and anyone else new to the game.

If you really want to do a mock draft, go right here: ESPN Mock Draft Lobby - Free Fantasy Football - ESPN

You can draft right now, and it's good practice to get used to the settings/time allowed/etc.

Now, I hope no one gets upset, but I always believe it's most fun when everyone has a good team. So don't get pissed, but here is a quick way to get up to speed on your very first draft.

Simply print out Matthew Berry's top 200, throw in a little strategy of your own, and you will immediately have at least a competitive team:

Matthew Berry's 2014 fantasy football rankings top 200 - Fantasy Football - ESPN

Step 3. Realize that you are playing against great Skins fans. Know that your opponents are more likely to value Redskins players above others in the league, and use that to your advantage.

Good luck.
