So, The Chiefs are under attack now, The Indians are under attack now, and the military is under attack now.

Are the scales going to tip so far PC that we now are afraid to come up with a cool sounding name out of offending someone?

It won't even have to be anything sounding cool. It will just be anything someone wants to exploit by saying someone else is exploiting them.
 
I suppose we Jeep owners will get some flack now.

My Comanche is no longer produced, replaced by the Dodge Dakota. The Cherokees are still abundant.... Chrysler will be targeted soon I'm sure.

People flip out about the name of our team, thinking they are somehow helping Natives, while not saying a thing about stuff like this. How much is the guilt assuaged by the name, while the people purportedly helped are actually losing their land again?

There is too much to consider as far as trust issues between reservations and the government to think that a name change will be easily supported. You will always have dissidents (and whiners, frankly) about people being mean, but unless it actually has a tangible effect....nothing will happen.

All of these random alternative names make me sick - Warriors, Redhawks - they have no meaning or relevance to this team whatsoever. If the Redskins have to change their name they should abandon the Native American theme for good. I've said frequently that I could live with 'The Burgundy and Gold' as it woulda obtain our colors, move on from the Native American controversy permanently, and still maintain our history.
 
Um, hell nah to the 'redhawks' idea. There's already a dozen teams named that anyway. Discovered that googling wtf a redhawk actually was.

The ONLY thing offensive about the Washington Redskins name is 'Washington'.

Swear I'd love to break a chair over Harry Reid's head then use the leg as a wooden stake. The only way Nosferatu can be taken down.

to me, this seems like the PC crowd trying to please everyone. "Well, you can't have Redskins but you can have 'Redhawks'. See, it has red in it, too!"

Like that would make any ****ing difference when it comes down to it. If you are going to change it, change it. This whole appeasement game is insulting. I know its not the same and it never will be the same IF it is changed.

But I will say this..Amanda Blackhorse is taking on too much at one time and it is going to backfire on her. She had momentum going with the Skins name but now that she is taking on the Chiefs I think they are going to feel like she is trying to come in and change the NFL. I doubt anyone puts up with that.
