I haven't heard a single thing negative about the guy. That either means he does absolutely nothing or he is totally beyond just competent. I'm betting on the latter and that this will be a big loss in the FO.

I'm betting we won't notice a single bit of difference. :)

Some draft picks and FA signings will be good starting next year, some draft picks and FA signings will blow. And we out here in fan land won't have a clue what if any effect 'ol Morocco Brown still being here might have had either way.

I am going to miss having his awesome name to say though. Morocco Brown. Very cool.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, by the way. It comes naturally.
 
It's very possible Brown's contributions flew under the radar because they weren't notable, but it's also possible because he was ignored. We've had a few clown colleges as FOs the past decade or so, if his recommendations often fell on deaf ears, I wouldn't be at all surprised.

The people who are taking about McVay's coaching ability are the same ones who praised Brown; just a thought.

People leave, move on for all kinds of reasons - it happens. Here's hoping whomever moves into his role excels.
 
I hope they hire Burgundy Burner to replace Brown.

Brown has had one foot out the door for the past year.

When he started to interview for GM jobs last spring it was only a matter of time.

What is puzzling is why Cleveland, why now as AGM?

If he had stayed in DC and the Redskins rebounded well in 2014 you would think he might get better opportunities.

Cleveland is a mess with one qb coming back from an ACL and drafting another that may not have NFL skills in Round 1.

You pile on top of that Gordon's suspension and the Browns are going to struggle.
 
So any leads on Brown's replacement? Not sure if I want Williams promoted, think I'd rather new blood and fresh perspective.

Agree first choice should be BB though. I'm with ya Diesel
 
Kyle has only worked with his Dad and his Dad's best friend Gary Kubiak.

It will be interesting to see how he fares now that he's not the favorite, but one of a staff of coaches.
 
Mathis gets suspended for a fertility drug and Irsay gets nothing for driving drunk and potentially killing someone?

the fertility drug is well known to mask other drugs from showing up in a drug test.... and he most likely also doesn't sign Goodell's paycheck.
 
Agreed, golden rule always comes into play.

In re Mathis I keep seeing this 'but that drug masks for PEDS' posted every time a guy gets nabbed on a blood test.

It seems that everything from Sudafed to Drano can mask PEDS.

Remember the case with Backstrom in the Olympics and his prescribed allergy meds?

At some point this all gets ridiculous.

If Sudafed is on the list of drugs guys cant take while playing the NFL... then they cant take them.... and Clomid is described as:

"Clomid (clomiphene citrate) is a nonsteroidal, ovulatory stimulant used to treat ovulatory dysfunction and polycystic ovary syndrome in women who, after other reasons for pregnancy failure have been ruled out, desire pregnancy and follow additional instructions that make pregnancy more likely to occur with this drug use (see below about dosage and use)."


everything i've read say's it's supposed to treat an ovulation disorder... nowhere have i seen it referenced for men.
 
It's used by a lot of MDs for male infertility, it's just not 'FDA approved' for that purpose (and neither are a lot of other dual purpose drugs).

I have no problem with the NFL towing the line on 'it's on the player to report meds/supplements they are considering taking to ensure there is no issue'. Mathis admitted it was a dumb thing to do - he just doesn't want to accept the penalty. I get the NFLs position, because opening the door for exceptions or judging every case individually would be a nightmare.

What the league does with owners who misbehave is a separate issue but if Goodell doesn't address owner misconduct he is a hypocrite.
