agreed. you don't have to like every single thing of something to enjoy it overall. I dont like the fact that certain actors are on my favorite show (Patton Oswald SHIELD) but I love that show and can enjoy it overall despite of any reservations I may have over a small item.

All you can really do right now is piece together conventional wisdom and scouting reports until we have the opportunity to really see the players for ourselves...I am going to try and post some highlight videos for all our new guys in the Video Library in the next couple days...

I do have a couple of clarifications to make, though.
"The more level-headed and practical among us (has anyone seen servumtuum?) would chide both camps, with the logical and sage wisdom that we won’t know for years whether or not the Redskins front office selected prize-winning roses, or just bought a bunch of Chia pets in this year’s draft. True likely. "
I'm not thinking years, but months for some of the answers to begin to coalesce-definitely a reasonably clear picture by the mid-point of next season.

Where's the fun, you ask? You have no idea how many giggles I get watching the "Hyperhomer/Negative Nancy" show. :friendly_wink:
It's like Black Friday at Target fighting over the "Correct view of the Redskins Draft on a 25% markdown for the next 24 hours only" sale and I stand at the window watching.
I only stay away to avoid being trampled.
It's as normal as normal can be-remember, I trek through NFL fansites every season and it's how NFL fans are. To be sure, Redskins fans are more intense than most. That is a compliment, BTW. I just happen to be of a different temperment than most with my stoic "let's analyze this before drawing any conclusions here" approach. The draft was fun to watch-and so were the reactions.
The thing is, I understand both sides-I don't necessarily agree completely with one side or the other even though both sides brought up what I thought were valid points but I understood where they were coming from.
Personal opinion injection here: the negative side came across a bit over-the-top at times to me with little room for even the possibility that team improvement was a reasonable option to consider. Yes, I know we didn't hit all the "hot buttons" of need but we didn't exactly settle for dregs across the board either. I am also aware of the demoralizing effect of the failure of the "Shanahan experiment." That experiment is now over. There are too many unknowns-like what the hell Jay G. has in mind anyway-for me to declare at first sight whether a particular player is a potential Pro-Bowler or bust waiting to happen. I do see potential improvements that FA and the draft have positioned the Redskins to make and, again depending on what the Jay G. team will look like in action, will watch with bated breath, and more than a little hope, to see if and how much those improvements show in the win-loss column.

Nice essay Boone. I enjoyed reading it. I kinda go back and forth from homer to negative nancy from year to year. I was pretty high and Shanny and company going into 2012, but really down on them last year. I loved the RG3 trade, but I absolutely hated how they managed him and his injury last year. So far I'm felling pretty homerish this year. I like the moves the team has made this offseason.
Good write-up, John. I was out and about draft weekend after Day 1 and definitely appreciated the pick summary.
