No fan of Haslett, but he didn't get to pick his own coaches, and was asked to run a 3-4 that he may not have preferred.
 
Don't know if this has been posted already as I was out for a week or so, but pretty hilarious. Most notably, the "culture of fear" at Redskins Park. This jives with what I've heard from former employees in Ashburn. Lord Faahquad's reign of terror continues!

Yeah... if you live in the northern VA area odds are you'll run into someone that works, or worked, for the redskins.

The stories are almost always bad.

My favorite is how snyder replaced the holiday dinner that all the production crews and staffers would go to with this shit buffet style dinner. Cooke apparently went all out to treat these people, and Snyder went the exact opposite direction.
 
I've heard stories of people literally running the other direction at the sight of Snyder in the hallway. LOL.
 
Cleveland isn't bad because they were an expansion team.

They are bad because draft picks such as Tim Couch, Courtney Brown, Kellen Winslow Jr, and more recently Brandon Weedon and Trent Richardson were busts.
 
Cleveland doesn't get a pass for being an expansion team; they've been around 15 years. Houston has been around just as long, and were a lot of people's superbowl favorites this year. Cleveland has had shitty ownership; it bleeds from there down. The Texans have the McNairs, who are awesome. Good ownership begats a good football team.
 
Cleveland had never been to the Super Bowl.

Even the Cardinals and Tampa, down franchises for years, have made it.

The city is not attractive to coaches or free agents.

Owners have been pretty cheap as well.

I doubt it.

If you believe in yourself, you know you can fix things. DS will provide the resources. It appears that he has finally absorbed the idea that he needs to assume a more traditional owner role. And if you are ARE good - you will find other opportunities should things go South. the league will know. this still remains a storied franchise in a good market with a stellar fan base. the problem here has not just been the DS/Vinny debacles - we haven't had good coaches either.

They're doing the right thing looking for an experienced coordinator. They're doing the right thing with the organizational restructuring.

we shall see how it all plays out. I find the DS wanking kinda lame myself. since DS aint goin nowhere I'm thinking there's only two ways to view this: DS is a constant who drops out of the equation and the focus shifts to making things better; those who believe things won't improve as long as DS is around should clear their locker and get the H out of dodge. they are only making themselves unhappy, their mindset predestines them to expect failure, and, after a certain point, they come to bore the heck out of many of the rest of us.

per previous: better to be optimistic. what's the point otherwise? I prefer MD5's cheering for Gruden or El's lean for Zimmer over some reposted mantra - heard for the last umpteen years - about the Napoleonic rich white guy. we just went through an eff'd up season that was maddening beyond belief. why would anyone want to sustain that mindset? that emotional position? to me, that's self-inflicted misery. that serves NO PURPOSE.

John Madden and Tom Flores were able to win the SB with Al Davis stalking the sidelines.

Jimmy was able to win with Jerry declaring himself emperor :laugh:

Parcells was able to win twice despite a feud with his GM and an owner in Wellington Mara that was a notorious skin flint.

Who put you in charge? What an obnoxious post. Folks here can believe and express whatever they like as long as they do so with a modicum of civility and respect - period. If it rains on your sunshine and rainbow parade that's just too bad.
 
My point was that there have always been owners with big egos who wanted to bring attention to themselves, as well as owners that were either cheap or meddlesome in wanting to get to know star players.

Guys have won in spite of this.

And the coach vs GM dynamic is often less friendly and collegial than a lot of media talking heads let on.

exactly! and that's why I posted how I look at it. I'm not pulling any punches. I'm expressing precisely how I see it. if others want to wear a different set of sunglasses that is their prerogative! I don't get the logic of adopting a position that has no out Boone. the wording might be off, but that is the core of the idea. it strikes me as irrational.

we all know Snyder has serious flaws. how does that change the current situation? again, what I'm investigating is an idea structure that leaves no room for change. I don't understand it. I have a hard time with holding directly conflicting ideas: wanting to win but holding that winning is a non-starter as long as Snyder stalks the hallways in Ashburn.

Well, I think the coaches this team has hired had some flaws to match.

None of the coaches going back to Norv took a team to the Super Bowl after leaving DC.

Norv was an average coach which he confirmed with superior talent in SD.

Marty also ended up in SD and was fired, once again because he won during the regular season but was an easy out in the playoffs.

Spurrier had no interest in the NFL and crawled back to Dixie.

Gibbs was simply too old, he waited too long to come back.

Zorn was a flake. No one was more surprised that he became a head coach than his previous employer Mike Holmgren who turned his request down to be made the OC in Seattle.

Shanahan to me is another George Seifert or Mike Ditka.

Once the magic is gone, it's gone.

So, while Snyder has been intolerable at times the coaches here didn't look like a bunch that was going to thrive whoever the owner was.

Again, none of these guys went on to any real success in the NFL.
 
Czabe is slaughtering the people that have been negative about griffin on the radio right now.

I heard some of that today. I thought it was ironic since Czabe almost always had something bad to say about RG3. I guess he just likes to go against whatever the popular opinion is. When RG3 is hot, Czabe is criticizing. When RG3 is down, Czabe is defending.
 
Sally Jenx actually wrote some positive articles last year IIRC...must have KILLED her. Now she's back to grinding her ax. Sorry, Ax.
