Random Commanders Thoughts

Well, it doesn't much matter. One of them has to win. You can say the Giants are the bigger threat, but there's very little evidence to support that that's the case this year. I'd rather have both of them with a single win. Simple logic.

Wonder if Chip Kelly knows what a tie is...

if we can't get our act together to the point where the eagles and giants aren't a concern then there's not much to really care about at that point anyways.

Tony Romo threw for 506 yards and 5TDs yesterday afternoon. I'm a bit worried about our secondary vs. the Cowboys this coming weekend. I sure hope we can force Tony into his usual DERP-iness, but hot damn that was impressive. And I HATE saying that about Romo. Ugh.

I'm not saying we're going to win next week, but the outcome of the Dallas game was perfect for us.

Romo blew a career day on a loss. You think he's going to turn around next week and put up 500 passing yards? That's probably never going to happen again, and it won't against us. Football these days is about ups and downs and catching teams at the right time. Denver caught the Cowboys at the wrong time and still won. That's all that happened last night.

I thought about that as well...that kind of loss can be the worst kind of loss - the offense pretty much did everything perfectly, and still came up short. That can be very deflating for a team's confidence.

Yeah, if it wasn't for December, and 4th quarters, The Dallas Disappointment might be able to do something other than choke.

**** Dallas, and **** Romo.

Gonna whip their ass at FedEx South.

The Redskins have to do what they did last year, namely start faster in these games and put the opponent on the defensive.

Last week it was 0-14. The Eagles were up 26-7.

We need Griffin and the offense to be more than bystanders the first 30 minutes.

I swear it seems like the team just doesn't care in the first quarter. Just goes thru the motions and believes they can just come back in the 4th every week.

I know that's not the case but damn this is frustrating.

Does anyone fear that RG3 will never be the same again? That he may now be permanently injured, either physically or mentally, and that the rest of his career may be mediocre?

This exact scenario happened to Daunte Culpepper. He led the leage in virtually every category one season, tore an ACL, and he was never the same the following season. He never got close to what he was prior to the injury. For all purposes, his career was done.

If he doesn't improve, we are probably weeks away from this very subject being discussed on tv.

Please tell me we aren't headed down that road, followed by the "What can we get for RG3" threads to follow after.

He may be superman, but it's pretty clear that he isn't Adrian Peterson in terms of recovery speed. I haven't seen a single other Skins fan even consider this possibility yet.

I'm afraid this is a symptom of bad scripting and piss poor game preparation. This part of our performance this season is the most unforgiving to me. We have too many other challenges facing us to not show up prepared.

I think if you don't admit to this even a little, you're lying to us and yourself. Adrian Peterson's skill is physical and only a small degree of mental. RG3 is the opposite.... We forget and deny that the mental aspect of his recovery is an issue. He's got a ways to go in that respect. Add to the fact that mentally, he's still a sophmore QB even without consideration of injury.

Will he pull through? God I hope so, if he was to realize his full potential long term... he could be one of the best ever. Or he could be like Culpepper. I tend to think he has more "it" in him than Culpepper ever did. We'll just have to sit back and see I guess.

Go back and look at the AP Game Logs from last year. It was the 6th game before he started dominating. In fact, he was saying as late as week 9-11 (doing this from memory) that he still didn't really feel whole yet.

Patience.

I keep seeing this, but its not accurate. It took AP 6 games to get back to being AD. He cracked 100 yards once (102 @ Detroit, one of the worst Ds in the league last year), and outside of that game, he had 84, 60, 86, 88 & 79-yard games. He then went bananas for 9 of the next 10 games, and the rest is history.

EDIT: Also, Culpepper put up ridiculous numbers with one of the best trio of skill players of all time around him. Randy Moss (in his prime), Robert Smith (one of the more underrated RBs of all time), & Chris Carter. It doesn't get much better than that.

I'm happy to see that someone else is thinking about it, because I haven't seen it anywhere else. Especially on twitter.

The same fans that said we'd destroy Philly, win the division etc.....all act like this isn't even a remote possibility.

And I'm not totally buying the AD numbers. He may have had only 84, 86, 88 yard games, but he looked a lot better than RG3 does currently. To make an analogy, RG3 looks like he's putting up 40 yard games. But no one is AD--that's probably not a fair comparison.

This game this week is crucial, especially after extra rest from the bye. He needs to look good.

Oh, I'm not saying its not even a remote possibility...because its definitely a possbility. I just can't believe its true, because I'd have to give up on football. LOL.

#Redskin player told me today's practice was the first time not one pass was dropped. Felt a noticeable shift in preparation. #nfl

I've seen Griff gradually improve as he plays this year, both physically and mentally.

Let's not forget that he is only in his second year and is still trying to adjust to the NFL as a former Baylor quarterback.

Peterson already knows how to 'play' running back at a high level in the NFL, that's one less aspect of recovery for him to overcome to get back into form.

Griff not only needs to recoup physically and fight the post traumatic stuff but he additionally has to continue to learn the NFL game as QB.

No one knows if Griff can fully get back to 'track superstar' status again but that is only part of the total package. I suspect that most of us figured that the 'track superstar' thing would become less important and diminish over time anyway.

Just speculating here.... but there has to be some difference in training regimen to prepare for the rigors of football vs. one preparing for track. Griff might be physically changing because of it, a bit stronger, a bit slower and still adapting to that.

AnyHoo....

My hope is that he continues to remain upright, stay mobile and fast enough to still wow the crowd and ultimately strike fear in opposing defenses with his NFL smarts and arm.
