Redskins leave poor first impression with new GM

Sarge

Not sure I want Gray in here as head coach. I don't think I want anyone that has been around this team to coach.

But the Gray speculation leads me to believe they are having trouble getting Shanny or Shanny is balking at coming here

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/22/AR2009122200169.html

With newly hired General Manager Bruce Allen watching from a heated suite high above the field, the ink on his business card not yet dried, the Redskins collectively struggled in what amounted to their first interview with the new boss.

"These last couple games is an audition. Bruce Allen pretty much got a head start on evaluating talent," cornerback DeAngelo Hall said. "If he looked at what he saw today, he'd scrap this whole thing."

I don't think the Gray speculation has squat to do with Shannahan or anyone else. They have to interview a black coach, and Gray fits the bill, plus he's a real favorite of Snyder's.

I for one have absolutely no interest in having Gray or any other coach from this team, becoming the next head coach. Time to move on, that being said with all due respect to Joe Bugel.

Shanahan or any other coach isn't going to take over this dog with 2 games left.

Wait and see what happens after the Chargers game.
As soon as the season is over and Zorn is fired will any coach be coming to DC.

Jerry Gray? Really? The secondary looked atrocious last night. All-around atrocious. Left Giant wide receivers open to do what they wanted, couldn't tackle...it was awful.

He may be one of the few choices left.

If you were a big name coach, would you come here if there were other jobs coming availible? I wouldn't. I mean granted, the danny pulled a shocka and hired a real GM, but will he get out of the way? I think I'd take the "Wait and see" approach.

We really need someone with some street cred in here to straighten out the danny/vinny mess, not some u and coming coordinator that may or may not be able to establish authority over the players

Simple solution to that

You gut the roster and have a team with 30 guys who are in their first or 2nd year and don't know any better

Similar to what the Cowboys did in 1989. That team was young and naive and thought the entire NFL was like Jimmy's boot camp.

Right now, I'm all for that. There's only maybe ten guys I'd want back next year. I don't want any of our current O-Line "starters" back except in a reserve status. Same for the RB's

Trade away everyone except the most basic, core players. Get me some of those big, corn fed Nebraska linemen in here.

Exactly.

This whole thing needs to be torn down from top to bottom

I can live with a team of rookies and 2nd year guys who play hard and improve week to week even if the record sucks.

You have the right vets in to show them the ropes, a tough hard nosed no nonsense coach and start their careers off the right way

I would keep:
Cooley
Davis
Devin Thomas
Ganther
Orakpo
Fletcher
Blades
EDIT: I'd keep Golston as well, he's shown something the past few weeks.

And that's about it. I really can't think of anyone else I want them to keep.

Well, the punter and maybe the kicker.

Fat Albert. IF he gets in shape

I'm struggling here............

Carter might have another year in him.

Campbell

Trade everyone else for whatever we can get

You also gotta keep Cooley. Before his injury the guy had never missed a practice

Yea he is a bit colorful, but the guy busts his ass every day in practice and in a game

Cooley was in Lanky's list. I was just trying to add on. Yeah, he's a keeper. . But what do we have, 11 players?

Sad. Just sad

thanks for nothing vinny

Oops :)

Yup, the Snyderatto show has completely destroyed the franchise. It shows what a GREAT coach Joe Gibbs was to even get 2 playoff apperances out of these jokers. If you have Jim Zorn from 2004-2007, you have 4 straight 10 loss+ seasons.

Let the adults run the show Danny. Go to China during the FA period. Argentina is nice during draft day weekend. Move training camp back to Carlisle or Frostburg. Invest some money in an indoor facility so that we can have quality practices despite the weather

We have 3 top ten picks populating our secondary and it's an absolute joke.
Carlos Rogers acts as if every receiver he's covering has the plague.
Wait,, I said "covering" just there, my mistake. Rogers hasn't "covered" anyone this year.

Prime example,, last night we al saw LaRon "Whiff" Landry go flying by Hakeem Nicks on the sideline while Nicks pulled in a 12 yard gain in the second qtr. But just before the play began,, just before the ball snapped, Carlos Rogers (who was up tight on Nicks) turned and RAN from the line of scrimmage. Nicks went ten yards and turned around, and Rogers was absolutely NOWHERE in sight. That ****ing idiot was TWENTY YARDS DOWNFIELD.
Landry came charging over, and of course missed in his usual fashion.

If this was an 'every once in a while' occurrence, i would be able to forgive it,, but it's every single pass play.
3rd and 4? Rogers gives a 12 yard cushion. 2nd and 9? Rogers gives a 20 yard cushion.
He's either afraid of the receivers, or Gray is afraid of the receivers. I guarantee you that every offensive coordinator who plays against us sees it, and tells his QB that if he gets a man to man matchup on Rogers to just throw a ten yard curl. It's a free pass. Rogers never ever ever challenges his man.
It's an absolute embarrassment.
If Jerry Gray becomes our head coach, seriously, I ****ing quit. I've had enough. Never thought I'd get to this point, but if Gray is our head coach next year, count me the **** out. I'll watch every other game and become one of the dispossessed who love football, but hate their team.

And that is as bad as it can get.

I'm already there Brother. The Pittsburgh game was awesome this past Sunday, as was the San Diego game. Had the Skins been on, I would have still been watching the Pittsburgh game and periodically checking the Skins game, because I like to watch professional football games.

Hopefully Allen can pull this ****ball out of the gutter, but it's going to take awhile

I have officially changed Haynesworth's handle to Fine China. He's as delicate and fragile as the real thing.

I'd add Campbell, Doughty, Horton, Jarmon, McIntosh, Alexander and Wilson to that list.

Good additions, I forgot about Horton and Jarmon cause they aren't playing anymore. Doughty...I'm on the fence with him, but he's a good special teamer I guess.
