Redskins vs Titans Discussion Thread!

Sounds like the guys had a decent showing with rust to knock off.

How did the o-line look when capt Kirk dropped back?

Seemed ok to me for the most part. Trent Williams wasn't in there. Kirk was making quick throws though.

They looked awful when they put in grossman with the backups though.

The line didn't seem to be doing much for Helu, pretty much every yard he earned was a hard yard.

Which part? Lol.

I saw Rich Campbell pinned the long run Chris Nield getting washed out at the point of attack.

I'm waffling again - I think that Orakpo failed to contain the run, but the fact that he was one-on-one and 9 other guys bit hard on the counter-action means there is more guys than just Brian to take the blame. :)

From the Sheehan article:

1. It looked like Orakpo lined up offsides on his sack.

Ehhhh....his facemask looks like it *might* have been past the ball, but refs will rarely call that.

Appreciate it. Makes ya wonder how much was the lines fault vs The Dragons.

I was just joking Lanky :)

Orakpo had a good game minus that run play, and the only reason that bothers me is because my biggest criticism of him was that he never played the run well; teams ran directly at him and there was a reason for that.

It's one preseason game. Orakpo took the blame in quit a bit of detail, so I'll side with it being his fault. He also said part of the problem is no tackling in training camp so it takes a bit to get used to taking angles with the intention of tackling, not just being in the area and two-hand touching people.

I'm hearing good things about White and how he played.

What do those of you that actually watched him think?

Also of note, Orakpo did a sack dance on that play - was there a penalty? Or is it only a penalty if you do a sack dance "over" someone?

No penalty.
I'm not sure what the deal is. The NFL has not been very clear. THey started out saying there would strict enforcement and they seem to be backtracking on that now.

The only penalty I saw was for Davis but thats because he went to the ground during the celebration which has been a rule for a while now.

I was really impressed. His passes were sharp and he demonstrated a lot of mobility. Pat darted out of bounds on two long runs before the defenders could hit him - smart moves. He scrambled for what seemed like an eternity on the two point conversion - that entire play was on him.

Suddenly, I have dreams of two or three times a game when White comes in at QB and Griff lines up in the slot or the outside. Or we could have Cousins come in at QB and have Griff and White in the slot or outside. It's intriguing.

...but we can all agree Sexy is gone, right? RIGHT?

That's comforting given the early reports out of camp about how awful he looked.

I can't use game rewind until tomorrow, and i'm not sure if it includes preseason now (they have a special preseason package...) so I wont be able tos ee fo ra while :(

Injury updates:

UDFA Jeremy Kimbrough has a separated shoulder. Best guess is that he goes to IR or gets an injury settlement.

Phillip Thomas has a sprained foot and may need some time to heal.

Donte Stallworth has a pulled hamstring and is day to day.

Redskins have a day off from practice today. They are back to training camp tomorrow.

I said rip move not swim move. He clearly rips through him, which naturally leads to a "ducking" of the shoulder.

was it Rambo that had his ankles broken by Chris Johnson?

Yeah...not many safeties, especially rookies, are going to fare well one-on-one in the open field with Chris Johnson. Dude has all kinds of shakes.

He clearly ripped through him with his left arm - part of a rip move is dropping the shoulder. If you've ever played DLine, its one of the first moves they teach you.

Re: Pat White - I noticed him in a pistol formation a couple of times on that last drive, but I don't recall seeing the other QBs line up that way. If that's the case, then that might be telling (although what, I couldn't say).

Either that makes him more valuable to us as a backup, or we can maximize his trade value as a flavor of the month pro pistol QB.

They're being pretty hard on Orakpo on the radio.

For the TD run? Or in general? Most articles I've seen mention him in the 'good' column, outside of the CJ TD. He generated a lot of good pass-rush.
