The Work Thread

Happenstance has me applying for both a new leadership role within my current company as well as a great role with Price Waterhouse Cooper.

I'll be fine if neither pan out but I sure would appreciate a change in career lately. getting burnt out quickly.

Go get 'em SS! No doubt you will be successful wherever your career path takes you!

"Hey, can you jump in on a conference call real quick?" from idiot (not a customer of ours, i would never talk about them like that. a consultant for a customer of ours. i would definitely talk about them like that)

eh... ok, if it's quick.

"You are the first caller and are put on hold until other callers show up"
are you ****ing kidding me.
t minus 13 minutes and i'm hanging up and he's SOL for the weekend.

Ha! You think that's bad...try getting a call from an agent on Thursday evening that the seller can only be available to photograph their home at 7pm on a Friday night and that those images need to be submitted asap so the house can go active before the weekend. Yesterday was a loooooong day.

Brian is just mad because TMZ turned him down for a position

I can tell you I would probably make more money with them...know anybody there? We all know it's you favorite show.

Waiting on news.

While lining up a pretty spectacular Fall, at least on paper. One of a handful of people in the country to have exceeded projections thus far.

There have been discussions that if business continues to grow the way it has, you may be looking at the director of photography. While there are more administrative duties, with that comes mo' money!

Good luck :)

I don't know about you guys, but there's only 2 of us that do the job I do where I work. Every time one of us goes out of out town the **** hits the fan.

My boss is out of town for a week doing some on site work. Today is his first day gone.

The battery backups for all the servers for one client failed, causing some significant corruption i'm fixing.
Meanwhile the power goes out for another client bringing down all their services and requiring me to go in and get it all fixed up and checked when it comes back up.

It's only 9am on the first day.

Ridiculous.

It sucks because this is actually the time when my job is fun - when there's serious issues you need to get fixed quickly. I just can't figure out why it has to happen all at once when one of us is out of town. Why can't it happen randomly when we're both here :\

The people I work for (mostly) are spending their 4th of July in Boston after I delivered their other 80 footer over there a couple of weeks ago. When they get back from Boston they are in town for a few days then they leave for Russia for the rest of the month. Finally, a summer of leisure. Ha! The second they told me the schedule I ripped the boat up for some projects I needed time for (and no guests). I got asked to deliver another boat to Vancouver in a couple of weeks so after being out here over a year, I am finally going to see some of the West Coast like San Fran, Seattle and Vancouver BC. Stoked to have a little extra time these days without looking over my shoulder wondering whether they are going to show up for lunch or a harbor cruise, etc. Plan on getting out and riding my new bike a little and working on my beach volleyball game a bit. I turned down a sailboat delivery to Hawaii recently. I wish I had the three weeks it was gonna take. Someday. Summer looks like it'll be peaceful for a change. Life is good!

We're working with another IT department for a company (it's a long story) and they're constantly stepping on our toes. Very annoying. It'd be one thing if they were right and did things correctly, but they don't.

Gah...the only thing worse than an IT company is TWO IT companies. :)

Which is more worthless of a work day?

Friday after Thanksgiving.

Friday after 4th of July when it falls on a Thursday.

I always though the friday after thanksgiving was the worst, but I just think it's because it comes every year. This is truly the worst day to be at work. Everyone was out late, probably drinking, and completely worthless today.

I feel like packing my **** and just walking by my boss's office and going 'Yeah, this day is pointless, see you Monday'

I am effing beat. Gave one phone interview, two in person interviews, had two performance reviews with my bottom two photographers, and had two client meetings.

Need a nap.

Just about every place I've worked gave us that day off as part of the standard holiday package.
