The TV Show suggestion thread

Nope. The propensity for any character you might vaguely like to be offed at any random point in the story. By the end of Book 2 I was no longer enjoying the series.

Now, I am not one of those who thinks all major characters should live on to "happily ever after" either. You need a real sense that anyone can die for the story to have much in the way of suspense but you don't have to kill off major characters every 5 or 6 chapters to make that point.

Interesting...I loved the books. Obviously killing off my favorite characters really bothered me, but he artfully makes it so that while you lose one, you find yourself rooting for another one (even an "evil" one) without even realizing it.

Pretty much the same way I feel. I kind of like the whole "no one is safe" approach. Its refreshing.

Here's Neo's reaction to the story so far: (Warning: There be spoilers.)

Any body can feel free to pm me on True Blood as well FYI, once it starts that is.

Looks like they will be making the next two books (plus a major plot line of book 3 that was not included in season 3) into the next several seasons of show. Makes sense, since I've heard books 6 & 7 (the final two) in the series are far from being done, so they need to give Martin time.

Im scared to say it but Arya is my horse!! Looooove that girl's attitude.

And this..

Just a suggestion, but you may want to put a spoiler warning on that.

(EDIT: For those who aren't caught up, Mike's video contains a massive spoiler)

You mean like i put a week ago that i wanted to start talking about it last Wednesday.

Yeah, i already warned everyone.

So the world revolves around you? Since you posted a warning in who knows what post, everyone should just expect spoilers in everything you post from here on out? Come on, man. That's pretty unreasonable. I'm sure there are some who aren't caught up or watched the series at all...its just common decency to put a spoiler warning for the most massive spoiler possible.

You're not a mod.
Stop telling me what to do.
You dont like what I do either ignore it or move on.

Im not worried about you or your opinion.
save the arguing for someone else.

And thats the last time I will say that to you. From now on some REAL mod can deal with you and how you talk yo people.

Huh? I've been nothing but polite, Mike. I never claimed to be a mod. I simply said you might want to put "spoiler warning" in front of your video, that's it. If you want to be an asshole about it, that's on you.

Guys, stop.

All, if there are spoilers, put a quick warning. The end.

Apologies, Henry. This is all I was suggesting, and I am done now.

That was a lame season finale!

Guys?

How in the heck am I a part of this besides telling him to stop telling me what to do?

And I put over a week ago that i wanted to talk about an episode that was ocera week old and everyone who participates in this thread saw it. Some even acknowledged it. Spoiler? Nah, no spoiler for an episode thats over a week ****ing old.

Its amazing what gets people breaks from the site and what doesnt. Im going to assume that its a level playing field and invite Jaimie to run his mouth like that to me in person.

...

I'm tired. I'm not getting into slap-fight.

Stop bickering. Put spoilers.

Thanks.

Agreed. I know they like to have the wham-bang be the show before the finale for some reason, but to follow up with a lot of transitional stuff ... eh.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed with it. I think they pretty much wrapped up the story they wanted to tell this season last week, and were using this finale to set up next season. It came off a bit choppy, IMO. The gf and I were discussing how it didn't really leave us wanting season 4 like the previous finales did.

For those who are reading the books a season behind, there is a huge event in book 3 that did not make it into season 3, but will for sure make it into season 4 (not sure how early, they can really play with the timeline if they want to). Actually two huge events, but they are part of the same storyline. Anyway, if you read book 3 there will be a massive spoiler for season 4.

I noticed that NCIS and NCIS-LA were rated first and fourth overall respectively for the past season. Those are the only two shows I watch - good to know that they are rated so high.

I'll watch the occasional documentary or educational program on History, Weather Channel, Discovery, etc. along with the news and select sporting events. Sitcoms? Eh, you can have them. :)

Em and I were just watching the latest Mad Men and our 12 year old came in with 4 minutes to go to tell us that our cat brought in a bird to her bedroom and was chasing it around the room.

Good times.

In general I agree with offing main characters here and there to keep it interesting, but the way this was done irritates me. They deviated from the story to spend almost an entire season following a plot line that ended the way it did. I view it as a waste of my time and dumb.

At least my favorite characters are still alive - for now. I could easily see how this style of story telling would grow old and irritating.

Mike, you might want to consider that some do NOT get the same episode, nor do they get it the same time as you. If I had to rely on local TV, we could be anything up to 6 months BEHIND a US screening.

However, in my case, I can't get episodes until at least 24 hours after they have been screened in the US, but if I happen to see anything related to the current episode, it does tend to spoil our excitement and anticipation.

OK, that's your reasoning, and that's fine, so I just unsubscribed from this thread so I wouldn't have to deal with the inconsideration.

All because you are too lazy to type out 12 letters!
