I've always thought that the Redskins have the most fans in the league and are the most knowledgeable. Case and point...

Just saying...

Another example from our "knowledgeable insiders." A tweet just sent. The name will be removed to protect the embarrassing:

Can't believe what I just read.. All I'm gonna say is Fred Davis & Hall are locks to be #Redskins in 2013.. Carry on with your day.

This tweet is wrong on so many levels:

1. Let's stop acting like everyone has inside info. Like Shanahan just sent an emergency fax across this drama queen's desk. Lol

2. As if anyone on earth thought D Hall was going to be cut? He just agreed to take less money. Who can we count on to replace him? Honestly, what were the chances of him being cut? .0000000001%? This is simply more attention-whoring.

3. Like we were going to cut Fred Davis? And who would mentor the rookie? Who would play in 2 TE sets in week one?

This is the kind of crap that makes so many fans of other teams hate us. It's embarrassing. Thank God BGO is in business. It's a welcomed nirvana from the junk above.

Hey McD5, if you hate our fanbase so much, I hear there's always room on the Cowboys bandwagon. Its running a bit light these days, so if you join now you can say you were with the team when they were bad! ;)

The thought makes my stomach hurt Lanky:)

I'm just saying.....tweets like that, and the attention-whoring over some "breaking news" that anyone with an iq above room temperature already knew are disgusting.

Our fans are smarter than that nonsense.

But you can find this among every fan base - but instead of seeking it out in other fan bases, you choose to point it out among our own...just a bit confusing, I guess. I'm wondering what your point is?

And just an FYI - saying Ladell Betts is better than Portis might be the most untrue statement in this thread. Those who live in glass houses, and all...

I think his point about the "Insiders" is valid. He's just poking fun at their awesome "inside knowledge" that is a bunch of crap. We have very knowledgable fans (as evidenced by this board), and we have morons too.

In fact, with RG3 on board, I would expect to see an increase in bandwagon fans and hence the levels of stupid rise some.

Oh, for sure - we have some "insiders" who are consistently wrong, then toot their own horn every time they hit their 1 out of 100 - but my point is that you can find them in every fanbase in the NFL...why pick out the ones that root for the Redskins? We are a family - everyone has the weird uncle that drinks too much and nobody really likes, but he's still invited to the family reunion.

EDIT: not trying to gang up on McD5; just honestly wondering why he feels the need to be so harsh on his own fanbase. Its kind of crazy, in my opinion.

Eh, I suspect it has to do with those insiders mostly being from the other place and some bad feelings associated with that. Which we probably aren't helping with the whole Betts/Portis discussion.

To clarify, I think McD is nuts in that discussion ;), but at least we treat him with respect, over there, not so much.

EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

HOW 'BOUT THEM REDSKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is correct.

Lanky....I don't follow fans of other teams on twitter, especially not "insiders" from other teams. That's why I don't really comment on them. I do laugh at that one cowgirl fan though....Shango? His videos of pain crack me up.

All teams have everything across the spectrum. The internet, and blogs have made it worse.

I apologize if it seemed like I was ranting. I was really just replying to BB's claim earlier that we have the most intelligent fan base out there. I suspect most fan bases believe that about their own team.

And that tweet above? You should have seen the responses....amazing.

Really????? WTF!!!

You just ruined my whole day! Keep us updated. You're the man!

Honestly.....I wonder how many of those responding are wearing clothes behind their computers. It's creepy as heck.

Again...its all about perspective. A lot of people think you might be sitting at your computer "not wearing clothes" for the claims you make about Betts. Just sayin. :)

For the record, nothing said in this thread so far has bothered me. It's the offseason and we need stuff to talk about. I happen to agree with a lot of what McD has said.

If I have to be honest with myself, I think the Seahawks are in a better situation that we are. Wilson looks like the real deal plus they have a top-notch defense plus they picked up Harvin and still had a ton of picks this year plus they've been making REALLY good picks lately. I hate 'em, the bastards, but they sure do seem to be making all the right moves.

The Colts ... eh. They've got Luck and maybe Hilton's good. Wayne is old and their defense isn't anything to write home about. I'm not sure I'd rather be them. They still have a ways to go, and need to prove they can make good decisions beyond drafting a no-brainer pick with the very first pick in the draft.

I think we are in a very good spot right now. Not only do we have our QB, but we've been drafting very well in the middle and late rounds as well. Just because I think the Seahawks are in good shape, that doesn't mean I think we are that far behind. We make a lot more good draft decisions than bad ones, and that's going to show up on the field. Hell, it already has. :) Griffin's knee is a concern, though it's not a deal-breaker. Even when he was playing on one leg towards the end of the season he proved he could be effective. If he needed to adjust his game like that permanently I think he could. It would suck, but I think he could.

Regarding fans ... generally I agree that all teams have smart fans and dumb fans and all teams' fans think they are the smartest ones. I do think the Cowboys, just due to the sheer volume of bandwagoners the get, tend to have more ignorant fans than most (though an educated Cowboy fan is the best to jaw back and forth with). I think Eagle fans have more thugs than most teams. I mean, there are some tendencies amongst fanbases that do exist and it's justifiable to point them out. But you can find smart fans who are true fans of the game with any team.

Steeler fans ... Eff em. Rooting for a good team doesn't make you smarter. It just means when you say 'we're goin all the way this year! Duuuur!' you are more likely to be right. Congrats. Have a cookie. The worst thing about Steeler fans is they think they are better fans than the rest of us, because somehow being loyal to a team that never ever ever fricking loses is just SO hard or something. Nah. They're just spoiled. Doesn't make em smart or anything.

I think I've said my piece about Betts and Portis. :) However, I'd be happy to keep that one going if need be. That debate's always fun. :D

Just because I feel it needs to be said, **** the Seahawks.

And **** Dallas.

And **** the Giants (that one's for you, Henry).

Henry, I despise Steelers fans for the most part. I honestly hate fans of most other teams for the most part lol.

There are two exceptions: Browns fans and Dolphins fans. And that's because I feel sorry for them. I mean, you want to talk about being on the receiving end of continuous ass-kickings? They deserve a medal.

As promised, I am going to get back to you on Ladell Betts--the most egregious misuse of personnel in franchise history. A crime severely punishable in most countries outside of the United States.

But for now, bed calls after a violent stock market and a long evening.

Have a great night everyone. Have a fantastic day tomorrow.

That's fine McD5. Here is some more to chew on then:

It's really not that important, but Betts ran for 1154 yards in 9 games one season. Well on pace to break the record.

On another note, I lost a ton of respect for Betts. On the heels of one of the greatest rushing seasons in NFL history, he was on pace for 2,051 yards--he should have immediately demanded a trade. He shouldn't have put up with that circus any longer. He didn't, which leads me to believe he lacked confidence in himself.

By the by, Betts did not run for 1154 yards in just 9 games. He played in 16 games that season. He STARTED nine of them. In those starts, he rushed for 850 yards and three TDs. Which, while still very impressive, would not put him on pace to break any records, for the team or the league.

I remember when Julius Jones ran for 800 yards in seven starts for the Cowboys his rookie year, and all Cowboy fans could talk about was 'if you project that out he'd be better than Emmitt Smith!' or some such nonsense. And then it turned out that when he DID get to play the entire season, those numbers didn't actually project out like they all thought. Starting half a season is not the same as starting a full 16 games. Most players can't do it, which is why so many teams have committees in the backfield. Betts was one of those guys who couldn't do it, and I think he knew that.

Hell, I think we all knew that.
