Random Commanders Thoughts

I don't get the whole wedding gifts thing - from ANY angle.

Why give a guy you've never met who's also worth a couple million dollars a wedding gift? I don't get it. Yes, I love RG3 as much as the next guy, but a wedding gift?

Why care what someone else wants to waste their money on? Unless it happens to be your husband or wife spending your money on a wedding gift for a multi-millionaire you've never met.

I'm sorry, I can't resist ;)

:)

But I actually agree with you. I don't understand, I'm just happy Griffin took it as a 'hey this is cool' thing instead of thinking the fans were creepy and stalkerish.

Can't resist what? I said I don't understand it from any angle. I even emphasized "any."

EDIT: not understanding why someone would spend money on a millionaire they've never met does not mean I care what they spend their money on - the two are not mutually exclusive.

Gotcha, my bad :)

I just thought the second part answered the first part :)

Again, I'm in the same boat you are. Just happy he reacted the way he did.

I'll take this moment to reiterate my feelings on our QB and the media (yes even social media) while he's still not 100%...

I don't like it. Get well, kick ass, take names then do what you want...

Steinberg or whomever the tool was that posted his registry information is mostly at fault, and our rabid fanbase but geeze whizz... can we just keep him out of the 24hr news cycle just once this month??

If I see our QB on headline news more than once an offseason it waaaaaay to much.

eh.

Robert...be your own man. no one shapes who you are and how you should conduct yourself but you. these various interests are trying to tell you what you should do; what your obligations are - because you are popular and because you make a pile of cash.

nonsense. you have your own vision and plan. you decide. you are the one who lives with the consequences. you are the one who knows whether you are jumping to someone else's tune or not.

you are going to be a polarizing figure no matter what. you already are. how far are you willing to go to subordinate your sense of self to the demands of others?

I love RG III as much as the next fan, but we have him AND his dad constantly in the news now talking about all things Griff. I dont really want that..seems like a distraction and a way for things to get turned around on you.

 Agreeing with you two times in any particular month confuses me a little. :psych:

Eh...it comes with the territory of a franchise QB. Its no time to get picky, just enjoy the ride, fellas. :)

it comes with the territory?

funny..andrew luck hasnt had that problem.

it comes with boredom, and parents being asked their opinion. they are a great family and good I dont have that much of a problem with what he is saying...but he needs to step out of the spotlight some and concentrate on not being a one year wonder.

Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Jay Cutler, Tony Romo....all are or have been constantly in the news in the past. Tom Brady's WIFE'S comments made the news recently.

Yes, it comes with the territory. We're just more sensitive to it now because its a Redskins QB. I'm just saying I'd get used to it, because no matter how much you think he needs to step out of the spotlight, he's going to always be in the spotlight. Especially in DC, where the Redskins are the primary team of interest.

Lets look at something more apples to apples....

Andrew Luck
Russell Wilson
Colin Kapermooseknuckle (sp?)
Cam Newton
Matt Ryan
Andy Dalton

Younger, new, yet to win any championships, 3 White, 2 African American, 1 true cornball brother ;)

Least successful being Newton, most issues, being Newton. I watch a lot of NFL network, listen to a lot of Sirius NFL Radio, pay attention to most anything NFL. I just don't see the same volume of chit chat, buzz, hype, etc etc with any of these guys that I do with our QB. I haven't heard from Luck's father in a long time, don't even know who Ryan, Dalton, Wilson, Kapernsy's father's are? Never heard a peep from them.

Again, I'm gonna blame a lot of this on our younger fans in DC. They're a bit ridiculous and I hope to god this crap dies down. Along with our ridiculous fans comes the ridiculous media in DC. Not NYJ type media, just Steinberg for instance? Publicizing a players wedding registry? How many of these guys badger the Griffins for quotes on the daily basis? STFU.

I wonder at times how Ryan OHalloren(sp) feels covering the Jags now... step down in prestige, step up in morality?

I love our guy, I just think he could tone it down while he has a huge target on his back. Get healthy, win something, then reap the bennies of your well deserved success. He's done a lot for this org.. but there's a lot more work to do and it ain't on twitter.

Griffin's not doing anything wrong. He's a popular QB in a big football market. The DC metro area is the fifth biggest in the country. The Redskins are the second most profitable team in the NFL. Sifting through Griffin's tweets with a fine tooth comb isn't going to go away. He could say he's having a bad hair day and an hour later there would be a dozen feature articles on the affect Griffin has on the hair product industry.

The microscope comes with the territory so he, and we, might as well get used to it.

I, for one, don't really give a crap about any of this. Once August hits it won't matter at all. Trust me.

Andrew Luck is dull as dirt Mike...that's the simple explanation. He might be one of the best young QBs in the last 20 years but its pretty obvious he's Jodi Foster to RG3's Scarlett Johannson.

The viewpoint expressed in the article is pretty silly. When you are a larger than life a persona as Griff is, people are going to obsess over and parse every thing you do - that's just the way it is.

Yep...like I said, just sit back and enjoy the ride. This is DC! Death, taxes, and QBs in the media!

Hearing Griffin yesterday made me think - man, I wish it was September.

As in - if I had a time machine I'd be in September, I'd skip June, July, August.

You know, the summer... The time of the year most people love and anticipate.

There's something wrong with me.

Surfing around youtube today, I came across this. What the hell, it's the offseason and this video deserves more hits.

Be sure to watch to the end.
