Official Draft Thread

TE depth and special teams, I suppose. Not a bad thing to have a TE swiss army knife. Maybe even a read option threat.

BBQ will have a "Help Wanted" sign for the mocks next year. :laugh2:

Hells Bells, I prefer your mocks to our damn draft. I just don't see this team as being good enough to gamble on boom or bust types with our top two picks. And we didn't even trade down! This draft is shocking thus far. :yikes:

We already have one of those. His name is Niles Paul. I just don't get this pick. I'm wondering if Sleepy failed a drug test and we just haven't heard about it yet. SMH

We never know the day of the draft what we got - we just don't. A year from now - well, we might know.

Niles Paul might never make it as TE. He was unimpressive last season and it is not a guarantee at all that he will progress adequately.

6'2", 236 and a 4.72 40-time? I mean his highlights are cool, especially that fumble on the goal line..ouch.

Not gonna block, not gonna out jump anybody, not fast... Good hands?
Can we get a redo? :whoknows:

He progressed at the TE position as the season wore on...especially in blocking, but he was an outstanding special teams player.

If Reed lives up to his potential, I could see him being like Sleepy, a very good receiving TE...hopefully without the head ache. I have to wonder how Sleepy's achilles is healing.

Edit: And BB, we need to stop hoping for the Shannon Sharpe "type"...we need more help at safety and for all intents and purposes we passed up a good one in Phillip Thomas.

Hey, I'm on your side El. I was hoping for Thomas and really thought we would get him. Or some other safety.

With the 119th pick in the 2013 NFL draft the Washington Redskins select...Matt Barkley QB @ USC. J/K kinda...1/2 lol.

IDK about this TE pick....time will tell I suppose.

I'm about ready to see an ILB with our next one...unless there's a monster NT there for the taking.

4.72 is plenty fast for a tight end. Davis got a 4.76.

Yeah my point was that nothing really stood out on him. Davis had a hard time blocking at 6'4, 250.

Being Negative? Absolutely. Safety, Linebacker, another corner, meh... TE.

so...Kyle obviously has a plan in mind. the kid played QB, RB, and WR. if nothing else...he's an athlete.

Truer words and all, of he turns out like Hernandez we'll all be happy, of not pissed. So far Shanny still has my trust. Nobody is perfect but after a decade of Vinny I'm just gonna shut up and hope for more Almo's and Cousins type picks.

No argument here. I just don't see enough need + value to justify taking Reed at this spot when most everybody's board showed guys who had higher rankings at our need areas.

He may turn out to be a decent player but I think we're missing out on filling holes with guys who have higher rated value according to the consensus. It's kinda like McRib. He might turn out to be a decent player but we reached for him. I still think we could have had him a round later.

In the end, I guess it doesn't really matter if you reach or not as long as the guy pans out. Too often in our past though, they haven't.

the receiving corps sputtered when Garcon was out. sleepy is what...a one year deal? Logan is nice, but doesn't scare any defenses. my guess is that they had another TE in mind but he went in the 3rd. they need more tools around Robert. if Paul steps up, then yea, I question the pick also. but so far......it hasn't happened. this guy, it would seem, brings a dimension similar to Davis - a threat LBs cannot stay with. he's not here to block - here's here to catch passes and play STs.

yeah true dat. just so fedup with Madeau Williams/ Reed Doughty circus from last year. I really hope Merriweather can contribute this yr.
