Health & Physical Fitness/Training Thread

They say to only weigh yourself in the morning, I think everyone fluctuates like that.

Mike, why the heck are you weighing yourself everyday, much less twice a day? That's a surefire way to get down on yourself, particularly if you're drinking a ton of H2O. I weigh myself once a week, same day, same time in the morning so I'm not fluctuating and experiencing bipolar emotions on a daily basis.

Missed my CrossFit tonight because the kids in my gymnastics class wanted to do extra tumbling. Oh well, I'll get the workout and do it tomorrow. I ended up just doing more cardio: 20 min. on the elliptical and a mile run on the trail outside the gym. Definitely tired today. Going to get some rest so I can get in a high intensity training session before the weekend, where it's highly likely going to blow all my hard work on eating out with my friends on our weekend mini-vacation. Strike that, I'm definitely going to blow it.

Weighed in at 177 today, down 8 since my plan started less than 2 weeks ago! I know the plateau is about to hit, but I exceeded my goal by 3 lbs and can now go to the mountains and kill turkey this weekend with a smile! (I miss my complex carbs though!)

You guys/gals intimidate the hell out of me, but I did lose 5 lbs this week. Very proud of that, I watched my eating REALLY closely.

I also walked my first 5k on Saturday, which I'm sure helped.

Good work on the weight loss, guys. These days I just hold steady at 185 or so.

Missed my TKD class yesterday. Stupid life got in the way. Today is an easy five mile run. We'll see if I can survive the pollen.

We have ours under the coffee table in the living room - easily accessible when we want to weigh-in (once a week, like SK does), but also out of sight the rest of the time.

Katie...because its there. I know its not smart but if its there I'm doing it.

I handled that same issue by only weighing in naked. Seriously, Its a pain to disrobe and that prevents me from weighing usually unless I've just gotten out of the shower.

I pretty much weigh no more than once every few days when I am really working hard and weekly during maintenance time

Chest and back routine last night, bracing myself for Plyometrics tonight - the most challenging P90X routine for me. Btw Katie, got my Nike Fuelband yesterday - pretty cool little toy :)

Then my girl has to find it whenever she wants it. Its not a huge deal to me, just something that struck me as odd.

She has to 'find it'?

I'm so sorry Mike.

Bah. Managed just three miles today. Ran out of time.

Gotta do better next week.

That's awesome! I have yet to do a 5k (not really a runner), but definitely want to sign up for one this summer. ALSO, don't be intimidated. I'm pretty sure most of us aren't pro athletes and we all have a lot of work cut out for us to get into the shape we're striving for.

Too many years sitting on my arse in school studying, okay fine, partying a bit too much led me to getting way too out of shape and heavier than I am used to and happy with as far as sports performance. I still have 27 lbs. I want to lose
before I'm really happy with where I'm at. It's not really even a looks thing, it's more of me just wanting to feel good and be happy with myself. ANYWAY, my point is we are all at different points in our health journey and there should be no shame, judgement or feelings of intimidation if you're on the journey and headed in the right direction :).

Thanks to everyone in this thread.

Recently I have gone from very fit and athletic to lazy and out of energy.

This thread helped inspire me to at least run a few miles today for the first time in a few months. Thanks!

Mixed it up this weekend with doing some hardcore land clearing, lots of logs moved and burned, lots of up and down a mountainside. Fatigued to the max

Katie - love my Nike Fuelband- it even recognizes cycling work. Definitely motivates me a little more and a cool little gadget. 33 on the bike today and starting to feel stronger.back to P90X tomorrow.

Once you get done with P90 you should definitely give Insanity a go. Great thing is no weights required but you're sweating like a pig afterwards. I'm gonna give the Insanity Asylum a whirl.

Last summer, before I hurt my shoulder, I was mixing the two. It was epic. Not that I was completing workouts before I fell over but it was epic. :)

Bummed out this morning. I just spent a whole weekend doing more physical labor than I have in a long time, ate like a bird (a bird that doesnt eat carbs), and when do I find upon my return?

4 more lbs than I had on Friday! Damnit, thats frustrating after such an effort.

Sweet! Happy to hear you love your Fuelband! I'm kind of addicted to mine at this point. I haven't logged any biking with mine, so I'll have to do that this week.

That is frustrating, I've had that happen before. Try not to be too upset. There is no way you gained 4 lbs. of fat over the weekend with the amount of activity you describe and the way you said you eat. It's likely you are retaining H2O. Maybe try to remember if you ate more sodium than usual or didn't drink a lot of H2O. Whatever the case, take heart and know that you didn't gain 4 lbs. of fat and hit it hard this week :)
