Redskins over the cap?

According to the NFL Players Association website, the Redskins are over the salary cap.

The union decided to make up to date cap information public via a web page that is updated four times a day. And after the latest update, the site showed the Redskins' to be $45,051 over.

You can go here to see the page, which will be updated again at 4 p.m. Below is a screen shot of the current information, as it may change.

This does not mean that the Redskins are officially over the cap. The league has the official number and it does not make that public. What this probably means is that a transaction that will lower the Redskins' cap amount has gone through the NFL system but has not yet hit the players' site.

We said last week that there could be something big about to happen. This may not be anything big but something will have to happen to get the Redskins back under the salary cap limit.

Chris Russell's "direct source" is saying there's no way the Redskins could be over the cap, because the contracts would not have been approved. I think the NFLPA's website's math is off...

I don't think DHall's contract has been officially submitted to the league. That is the current scuttlebutt going around. Pretty sure they are waiting on Winfield to see who could get released or restructured.

We're seeing the Redskins forced to raise their financial and personnel game to a fine point in order to weather this "penalty" while remaining competitive. Those lessons won't be lost on this front office any time soon and will stand us in good stead.

Is there ever a point at which you can trade down TOO much? I was talking with a Patriot fan "friend" of mine (hard for me to get too close to anyone who is a fan of that team - my in laws being a perfect example), and he said the fans often get frustrated b/c Belicheat (my nickname, not theirs) continues to trade back, and won't pick what should be better players to stock up for Brady and make another run.

Yet every year, they seem to have tons of depth and they make a run. I dunno.
