The ref that claimed Hall threatened to kill him is Head Linesman this sunday

F Mara (I kid... I kid... sort of)

D Hall:
“I've got a meeting set up with Commissioner Goodell on Monday,” Hall told the media, via the Sports Bog. “Me and him will talk about it, watch the film, figure out what went down, hopefully get to the bottom of this.”
- via cbssports.com

Goodell:
"Don't worry Dee, I got yer back." [mwuahahahah....]

Well, there goes the hope for the refs letting them play. Hall will get called for numerous pass interference penalties.

I don't know why we wouldn't protest this up front. If nothing else it would make it clear to this official that eyes are on him and that he better call an above board game.

Boone, do you really think it would be noticed by anyone that matters if we were to protest this?

Look, the way the league got away with the cap punishment, you don't think for a second this HL was assigned to this game specifically? Paranoid? Sometimes I think I am to a degree, but...

Probably not a big deal. Now if he was going be the field judge, back judge or side judge I'd be furious.

The head linesman (H or HL) stands at one end of the line of scrimmage (usually the side opposite the press box), looking for possible offsides, encroachment and other fouls before the snap. As the play develops, he is responsible for judging the action near his sideline, including whether a player is out of bounds. During the start of passing plays, he is responsible for watching the receivers near his sideline to a point 5-7 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.

He marks the forward progress of the ball and is in charge of the chain crew with regard to its duties. In addition to the general equipment listed above, the head linesman also carries a chain clip that is used by the chain crew to properly place the chains and ensure an accurate spot when measuring for a first down.

I agree with this too. It couldn't hurt. I would be surprised if a friendly phone call isn't made from our FO.

But in reality, this isn't the guy making PI calls. Out of all of the positions, he's probably in the least harmful to someone like Hall.

What in the fizzity **** is the NFL thinking? Do they want a WWE-esque stigma? Smart leadership wouldn't let this ass clown officiate a Skins' preseason game, let alone a playoff game. And if there are still any hard feelings, I guarantee any psychologist would say bias, concious or subconcious, will have influence. **** this ****!

Beans, I work everyday with a college ref. On a whole, they are pretty dorky. Not a lot of "cop" syndrome, and they get reviewed after each and every game.

Their dream is to make it to the NFL. And if they screw up, they are done quickly.

There really isn't a whole lot this guy can do to us. Any TDs or turnovers are automatically reviewed, and bad spots can be challenged.

After 5-7 yards, with contact being allowed in the first 5 this guy really doesn't do much.

And why do we assume that he is a bad guy? He might be a great guy. He was selected for this game because after an entire season of tape, he was deemed as one of the best.

It seemed to me like Hall lost his cool for thirty seconds during that game. Maybe Hall was just insanely frustrated, and went off on the wrong guy.

This guy isn't going to screw his career because he's pissed at Hall.

McD5, I hope your right. I might be overreacting. But I still don't like it. Not in the playoffs...

I gotta agree with Beans. Revenge and/or bias for a perceived or real insult or slight is human nature and that should be taken out of the equation altogether. Any call he makes is going to be dissected from our end and I'll probably be among the first to call for his head.

Have him switch spots with the alternate and let HIM be the alternate instead.

I might not be worried enough, lol.

I just know the guy I work with, and at least according to him, most of his colleagues are more scared than anything before a game. Scared that they will screw up and lose their jobs because of it.

He really is in the least harmful position for Hall. Replay can help correct anything he does wrong.

This league has tried to **** us hard. I just don't see a whole lot this guy can do to us in the position he's in this weekend.

But as Boone said, a phone call to the league couldn't hurt.

I don't disagree with this Jimbo. It's human nature on some level. But maybe he's also pissed at Seattle's corners for doping and beating the system?

It takes a ref many years to make it to the NFL. HS, then college games, and then only the best make it to the NFL.

This isn't the NBA. They really do scrutinize these guys, and the competition is fierce.

Everyone, including cameras will be watching this guy. I just don't see him saying "**** it all" to throw a ridiculous penalty on Hall within the first 7 yards from scrimmage.

Remember, this guy really doesn't even call PI. He mainly just marks the ball.

.

so right around the area that the "phantom whistle" was blown?

This is a no-brainer. The NFL needs to step in and remove any possibility of any remote sppearance of impropriety and remove this guy. I honestly can not fathom how they would want the **** storm that would happen if the Seahags, after their first gifted game from the officials, got a playoff gift, or anything that remotely resembled a gift.

The NFL is really, REALLY stupid if they don't replace this guy.

Sooo... no chance he gets replaced, right?

A Head Linesman is not a big deal until THIS happens:

None whatsoever.
