In my ideal world, the Giants lose at least one more game AFTER tonight, and we and the Cowboys go undefeated the rest of the way. I want that last game at FedEx to be for the division.

Just giving you a hard time because you are giving me a hard time. :)

However, if you want me to take that comment seriously, I'd respond by saying that first of all, the circumstances surrounding this team in 2001 and 2012 are completely different. In 2001 we were coming off an 8-8 season, and a 10-6 season before that. The prevailing belief at the time was that the team actually did have some talent, and had no business losing the first five games by a combined score of 32-144. That they recovered to finish respectably was nice, but shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Secondly, Marty wasn't fired for the record. He was fired because either: He wouldn't surrender some of his control over personnel decisions or; because Spurrier became available and Synder wanted him. (take your pick. I'm going with the latter.)

Lastly, firing Marty was colossally stupid. :)

Oh yeah, I know. I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. I was actually just commenting on the idea that the direction of the team is last priority for our lovely owner. that finishing 10-6 wont stop him from deciding that isn't 'good enough' and bringing in a new coach.

While I'd like to believe that he's changed from those ways, he's yet to prove it. Gibbs was an exception, but afterwards he was right back at it with Zorn. We'll see how he goes with shanahan. I was convinced he'd be fired this year based on - *long exaggerated sigh* - the fan base's reaction to the season.

(I can't wait till we have someone running the team that says they don't give a **** what the fans think, because if the fans knew what they were talking about they'd be working in the league somewhere....)

The Giants favored by 2 1/2 is such an insult in our house.

We have the chance to change the entire face of this franchise tonight.

are you kidding me?

the giants are the defending super bowl champions. they've won 2 in the last 5 years.

we've been a division bottom dweller since 1992.

it's not an insult. it's reality. beating up on dreadful cowboys and eagles teams doesn't mean we're in the giants league yet.

and, whether we win or lose tonight, we're not in the giants league and any redskins fan that thinks we are is kidding themselves. we may be playing well, but 'on paper' the giants are a much more talented team, with a much better organization running the team.

edit: oh, and 'our house' is a stadium that gets overrun by other team fans EVERY SINGLE PRIME TIME GAME, regardless of whether it's an NFC east time or some random team from the AFC. because our lovely fans don't bother going to the game.

edit2: in fact, it only being 2 1/2 points is probably insulting to the Giants more than us in my opinion.

It's a freaking insult.

Hopefully after tonight's game, we will command a little more respect.

You're delusional about the team then :)

It's ok, I tend to be sometimes too :)

That's kind of why we're here... :)

Dude...this isn't an insult. It is Vegas trying to make money and stir interest in the game. No less and no more.

It's an insult imho. Now it may just be an insult from the gambling public....the general population....but it's an insult.

RG3 on MNF?

In the words of 85...."Child, please."

Let's rock!

If we, by chance, had lost either the Eagles game or the Dallas game-or worse, both, the Vegas point spread, I would think, likely be more in the 5 to 7 point range rather than 2 1/2.

This is what is different. How long has it been since we basically dominated most or all of a game against the Eagles and Dallas and then held on to win-much less in back-to-back weeks?

Been a while. That's the difference that makes it possible for me to retain a positive view of the Redskins future no matter if we win or not tonight. First, I think we are perfectly capable of winning tonight. It's not guaranteed and nor, at least in my case, is it a "make or break" as far as how much better the future looks for the Skins. New York is known for putting together their best efforts during the last few games of the season and yet we are still playing well enough to win anyway. I haven't seen a Redskins team I felt this way about in quite some time. Yes, I will be disappointed if we lose tonight-I'm always disappointed when we lose and even more so now because we're a better team than we've been in years despite the well known holes and deficiencies left to fix.

Making the playoffs is not implausible. How long has it been since it has been possible to say that about the Redskins? The first half of 2008 maybe, until the wheels came off that particular wagon. Even being able in my mind to think that it wouldn't be all that much of a surprise to see the Redskins sneak into a Wild Card slot is one hell of a refreshing change from the recent past for me.

After the 2008-2011 seasons, which were among the most disturbing I've watched in recent years for numerous and confidence-shaking reasons I can honestly say this team has the greatest potential upside of any Redskins team I have seen in over a decade or more. If we wind up in the playoffs I will be dancing around the room like a madman, but if we don't....well, I will be disappointed but not to the extent that I lose reason for looking forward to an even more improved Redskins team next season-and the next after that...and so on.

Even beating the Giants and still somehow not being able to garner a Wild Card slot-other pieces elsewhere in the league would have to fall in our favor-would leave me with a level of confidence I haven't had in a long time. There would be some disappointment but it wouldn't be confidence-shredding.

Of course, its possible my own personality is a large part of my perspective here-I freely admit that.

Having said all that, Beat The Gnats! :)

before every game you can expect a flock of people to come in going "we're going to lose!" "its not going to work" simply because of the past.

Not me..call me delusional, call me silly. but I will NEVER say my team is going to just lose a game before they've even stepped on the field.
Same here :)

It's no insult. Afterall, we didn't sweep the Giants last year, or have them dead to rights in NJ before we let them off the hook.

Sheeit.

The bookies are just trying to get action on the underdog's side. :D

I can't even focus on work today. This is useless. I need to get out of here, and get the party started.

It really would be fairly awesome if we beat the Giants tonight.

That would be something.

where going to beat tha g-girlz tonite....gods willing !
