Not much will change on the outcome of tonight's game except Green Bay and Chicago swap
If Green Bay wins and we beat the giants next week we will control our own destiny

RNK NFC W L T

2 San Francisco 8 2 1
3 Chicago 8 3 0
4 NY Giants 6 4 0
5 Green Bay 7 3 0
6 Seattle 6 5 0
Playoff Separator

No, if the Packers win tonight we control our own destiny...

If we beat the Giants next week, provided they lose tonight, it will be part of our destiny so long as we keep pace with them game for game after...

At this point we don't Mike. It all depends on the outcome of tonight's game. But if the Giants lose tonight, we will control our own destiny. With a Giants loss tonight and us winning outright for the rest of the season, we would win the NFC East no matter what happened anywhere else.

Packers have to win and we have to win so right now we don't control our destiny

Packers have to win and we have to win so right now we don't control our destiny

But what you said in the OP was that a loss by the Packers tonight and a win by us next week will give us control of our own destiny, which is inaccurate.

A win by the Packers tonight puts us in the driver's seat, we will control our own destiny at that point.

GMen up 17-7 at end of first. Ugh.

Rodgers doesn't look great to me so far. Hopefully they can turn it on.

*Observes that we're 11 games in, and legitimately discussing playoff scenarios*

Ponder that for just a second.

HAIL!!

Right now the Packers O-line is getting man handled and the Giant's as usual are holding with reckless abandon and no flags

Cruz scores. Hope you're happy Boone. :). Vagiants up 24-7, Blerg. I HATE the Vagiants. Eff Mara.

All of a sudden, we are creeping our way back into the picture for the final Wildcard spot as well.

Seattle holds it down as of now, sitting only one game ahead of us. Interestingly enough, the Bucs, Vikes, and Saints, who are also on the outside looking in as of now and bunched up with us, have all lost in head to head play vs. the Skins.

Remaining Schedule for Seattle:

@ Chicago
Arizona
@ Buffalo (in Toronto indoors)
San Francisco
St. Louis

Remaining Schedule for Vikings:

@ Green Bay
Chicago
@ St. Louis
@ Houston
Green Bay

Remaining Schedule for Tampa Bay:

@ Denver
Philadelphia
@ New Orleans
St. Louis
@ Atlanta

* Note: Seattle sits at 4-4 in the conference (the tiebreaker that would have to be used in the event of a tie between Washington and Seattle for the 6th spot). The 'Skins currently sit at 5-4. Seattle also sits at 0-3 in the NFC West, where they play 3 of their final 5 games.

With the Giants doing their thing tonight and proving once again that they play at their best when their backs are against the wall, chasing down Seattle might be our most realistic option, based on the tiebreaker advantage we would hold vs. the likes of the Bucs, Minny, and New Orleans.

While all that I've flushed out above might simply prove to be based on pure speculation and assumptions, it's sure nice to be talking about playoffs on November 25th. It's a breath of fresh air.

All the scenarios for the 6th Wildcard spot fell our way today. Seattle, Tampa, Minny, and New Orleans all dropped their contests.

Asking the Giants to lose at a point in the season where people are starting to doubt them is always a recipe for disaster and a little too good to be true.

At the end of the day, you have to go a minimum of 4-1 the rest of the way if you want a shot. At 9-7, with an 8-4 NFC conference record (assuming you win out in the ever important division games remaining) the Redskins will give themselves as good a chance as any of the other mediocre teams fighting out for the 6th Wildcard spot.

Essentially, with the Wild card door being opened today for the 'Skins with the way things played out, arguably what the Giants do tonight doesn't really affect us that much if your goal is to simply to find a way in the playoffs. What can't be argued though is that a loss to the Giants next week puts all division championship and 6th playoff spot talk to bed real quick.

You need to step onto the field vs. New York basically with the mindset that you have to play the game of your life, and the coaching staff cannot tolerate anything less than that in the process of preparing the players this week.

Actually we will have played 5 division games in the second half of the season

fn packers are getting there ass whipped ...looks like were going to have to run tha table!

well atleast tha guys had 3 days off to rest up , now they can get back to work and get ready to host these f^^ks

We still look good. And the teams we need to lose, are playing very tough opponents next weekend.

Also, the Giants have a brutal schedule going forward.....just an absolute killer. They will lose at least one more game.

Hey, we can't expect perfection. But this has been a great holiday weekend. Many of the teams that we needed to lose did oblige. Also, we had a great victory to celebrate on Thanksgiving Day.

Yup.

Wild Card Teams:
Green Bay - Minn, Det, @Chi, Ten, @Minn
Seattle - Ari, @Buff, SanFran, St Louis
Tampa Bay - @Den, Phi, @NO, St Louis, @Atl
Minnesota - @GB, Chi, @St Louis, @Houston, GB

Division Teams:
New York - @Wash, NO, @Atl, @Balt, Phi
Dallas - Phi, @Cinci, Pitt, NO, @Wash

Us:
NY, Balt, @Clev, @Phi, Dallas

This season has far too many games left to know what is going on. We just have to worry about winning our games, in 3 weeks the rest of it will work itself out.

It's realistic 2 of the 3 NFC East teams lose majority of their remaining games - and that includes us. That alone could greatly change the playoff picture...

King's got us in as a Wild Card:

Now for the NFC. It's bizarro world. Here's how I handicap the six-team race:

1. Washington (5-6). The 'Skins and Bucs are playing the best among the contenders, and if Washington can win one of the next two (Giants Monday, Ravens to follow), the last three weeks (at Cleveland, at Philly, Dallas) are manageable. How great would it be to see Robert Griffin III in a Wild Card game at Soldier Field, getting chased through the snow by Urlacher and Briggs?

2. Tampa Bay (6-5). Watching the Bucs the last month, I keep thinking no one wants to play them. Greg Schiano's instilled a toughness in them, and offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan has obviously worked wonders with a rejuvenated Josh Freeman. The problem's the schedule. Bucs are at Denver, at New Orleans and at Atlanta in December. The only hope with that tough slate is maybe the Falcons have nothing to play for in Week 17, and Julio Jones and Matt Ryan sit.

3. Seattle (6-5). Seahawks have the tiebreaker right now, but that can disappear if Richard Sherman does. (See below.) Russell Wilson has been efficient in his rookie season. Now he'll need to be explosive, even more than in his last four weeks (nine touchdowns, one pick) to make up for what may be a yawning gap in the secondary.

4. New Orleans (5-6). The loss to San Francisco was logical, as well as disappointing. New Orleans now has to go 4-1, minimum, against a murderer's row slate (at Atlanta Thursday, at the Giants, Tampa Bay, at Dallas, Carolina) in the next month. All things are possible with Drew Brees, of course, but maybe not with a defense that just doesn't pressure the quarterback enough.

5. Minnesota (6-5). Can Adrian Peterson play quarterback? Green Bay twice, Houston on the road, and Chicago in the last month. I just don't see it.

6. Dallas (5-6). Schedule doesn't matter to me. The Cowboys haven't played well since September. Why start now?

So here's how I see the Wild Card round on the first weekend of January:

NFC (Byes: Atlanta and San Francisco): Green Bay at the Giants (Saturday night, NBC), Washington at Chicago (early Sunday, FOX).

AFC (Byes: Houston and New England): Cincinnati at Baltimore (Saturday afternoon, NBC), Indianapolis at Denver (late Sunday, CBS).

He has 12th in the league:

12. Washington (5-6). I don't have to take a poll to tell you that no team in its right mind wants to play Washington right now, not after Robert Griffin III put up 69 points in the last two weeks with his arm (mostly) and legs. And teams might feel that way about the Redskins for a long time, which wasn't the case before he arrived.

And I know it's Peter King, so we can all discount it. However, it's after Thanksgiving and the Skins are still relevent? Are you kidding me?
