Another week in the NFL Season has passed and the Redskins continue to struggle at times, especially in the secondary. The trade deadline comes late Tuesday and the Redskins will probably be non-players, but nothing can be ruled out.

Q1: Could the Redskins be players in the trading market?
A: Probably not, but suggestions of trading Kirk Cousins and Rex Grossman have been proffered. It would be nice if a team made a nice offer for Rex, but that is not likely to happen either. Does anyone think the Redskins could trade away an impact player after the season ends? Maybe a Brian Orakpo? How about a receiver needy team – Leonard Hankerson anyone?

Q2: How in the world can we expect to compete when the defensive secondary is comprised of Moe, Larry, and Curly?
A: Give us your thoughts on the matter. If nothing improves, do we fire Haslett and Morris after the season or the entire defensive staff? BBQ thinks that Morris should stay (if he is not picked up by another team) and the rest of the defensive staff should go.

Q3: Robert Griffin, III continues his impressive march as a star studded rookie. Is this a dream come true?
A: You bet it is and then some! One forum member created a thread and said that no other player is better than the prized QB. It’s hard to argue that point. The advice of BBQ is to continue enjoying this special ride.

Q4: The offensive line continues to perform well under the circumstances. Does the supposed return of Jammal Brown change things at RT? Will he miss the entire season?
A: BBQ believes that Brown will go straight to IR and his tenure as a member of the Redskins is finished. Do you believe otherwise? Is there any hope of his return? Is the RT position the weak link of the OL?

Q5: Getting back to the secondary. This is just a suggestion. Would it be a good idea to bring in Eric Mangini during the break as a special defensive assistant? He may not have the mojo to be a head coach, but his specialty is the defensive secondary and has a good record at this position.

His stock is rising now, but a player I think the Redskins will take a long look at is Kenny Vaccaro, safety out of Texas. He's the type of player Shanahan & Allen love, and is very underrated. He's gone from a mid-round guy to a round 1-2 pick, and who knows where he'll be by April. I do think he's going to be on the radar though.

Astute observation. He will probably appear in many mock drafts for the Redskins in the coming months, including BBQ.

there isn't a secondary coach going back to the days of Tom Landry with the Giants that would be able to make chicken salad out of these chickens

there is no speed or cover talent in the secondary. most of the players are over or nearing 30 and on their second, third or even fourth team. there is a reason for that.

it's still amazing to me how the Ravens decide guys are not 'core' to their success and let them go in free agency and then the Redskins go ahead and sign them to 5 year, $20M contracts such as they did with Josh Wilson and Chris Chester.

Both of these guys are NFL players but the question is, can you win a championship with them starting?

I think the answer is no. Wilson would be fine as the third corner. He lacks size and speed to be a guy you leave out on an island against a team's 6'2 or 6'3 first receiver. Chester would be a great situation substitute on the OL, playing 2-3 games here and there when somebody else misses time. But he's simply not strong enough to match up with the better inside DL in the conference.

Baltimore is one team along with others like NE and Philly that are not good trade partners because these front offices know how to evaluate the guys they have in practice and rarely make mistakes in terms of who they release or decide to move on from.

They might not always make the best draft picks in each case, but you don't 'steal' players from them either.

Look at the Eagles. Over several years they were able to pawn off AJ Feeley for a #2 pick, Donovan McNabb for #2 and #4 picks and Kevin Kolb for #2 and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, a pro bowl caliber corner.

Meanwhile, where are these players? Feeley is a backup with the Rams at age 34. McNabb is out of the NFL altogether and Kolb can't seem to secure a starting job with the Cardinals.

You've been saying this a lot lately, and while there is truth to it, you have to remember they had depth at both positions when we signed those players that they were able to "let them go". They matched the offer we made to their top tier OG, Yanda...we had to upgrade what we had and Chester is a definite upgrade from what we had.

BT, on a lot of the rants you have, I agree, especially when it comes to player acquisition during Shanahan's tenure. But in this case, those players were good signings. Chester has an average contract for an average player and Wilson just needs some help. He is a very capable #2 CB in this league.

I'm pretty sure the Ravens wanted to re-sign both of those guys, but couldn't afford it. When you draft like the Ravens, you can afford to let a Josh Wilson go b/c you have a young Ladarius Webb ready to come in and take his place (and exceed his performance).
