And Keiland Williams has been brought back in.
 
I wasa hoping Grant could help out as a third down receiver. Williams is a good pass receiver as well.

Trying to give Griffin some additional options.

I especially like the idea that he can back up Darrell Young. DY seems to get dinged quite a bit. Special teamer, backup FB, backup RB... Nice move FO...Nice move.
 
Surprising - I wonder if his injured foot was acting up again? I liked Keiland, thought he brought a lot to the table as a 3rd-down receiver, and I'm glad to see him back.
 
I love the move. Grant hasn't done anything, and we need to continue getting younger. Gotta agree with all points by Dead Money.
 
He's a role player and with Morris now as the established runner the staff can plug and play with willing contributors like Williams.

This is what Gibbs and Walsh did all the time on offense, blending talents and finding guys that could be productive in a specific role that other teams released because they were not the 'complete' package.

How do you figure this? Not saying you are wrong, just not getting this feeling at the moment.
 
Royster is not 'out' in terms of being on the roster, but he is clearly now a backup.

The signing of Williams is simply a recognition that Royster is not fast enough or a good enough receiver to be the third down back.

But if God forbid Morris gets dinged Royster will be getting the carries between the tackles.

That has not changed.

Im with you on this one... Royster is the backup, and Williams is now the 'change of pace' guy. I think this also has to do with the option. Williams is another viable option in the backfield when we run the 2 back set, and he's a step above Young out in the flat. Young had a heck of a TD a couple weeks ago, but he's not going to be a guy who can make things happen in space... and i think Williams gives us that option.
 
Which means that Williams will be out next year when Helu is back healthy?

I have to admit I have been wishing we could see some Helu lined up deep in the triple option look rather than Banks.

oh that would be awesome... Having Banks back there is cool but i don't really understand what they're doing putting Paul back there on some plays either.. kinda weird but they know more then I do..
 
Let's give Helu a break. He is 23 and coming off his first serious injury. This is not a 26 or 27 year old that has been on IR for the better part of several seasons as Malcolm Kelly or others have been.

Behind Morris there is room for competition.

Helu has big play ability which the others do not. But he needs to come back stronger and more capable as a pass protector and sure-handed receiver.

Williams is a coaches dream. An unsung guy that does what he is asked to do and does it 100 percent and is productive.

Could he end up being a Clarence Harmon type third down specialist here? Yes.

Royster is a north-south runner with limited speed and receiving ability.

Unfortunately for him Morris is strong enough to be a short yardage and goal line runner.

If Morris was more of a scatback then Royster would see more time on the field.
