The effort to re-sign Fletcher

I don't think there's any hurry. I'm guessing we're just waiting to get our cap space, or at least some of it, back. Once that happens, the deal will get done quickly. There may already be a deal in place just waiting on that to get done.

Any other scenario would be shocking.

It is close to happening.

Redskins have also brought in Jonathan Goff for a look see. Decent chance of signing him.

Who says Friday the 13th is unlucky! Great news!

Glad to see London back, he's a fixture of stability and hard work.

Yep. Obviously a good thing having him in the lockerroom and on the field as we find and groom his replacement. Be nice if we could help him end his career with a playoff run or two.

Best news of the offseason!!!

Now, if we could just find some way to get a good young QB.

Fletch's contract allows the team to waive him at any time with no cap hit. Don't know the length of the contract yet, but that is good news.

That would mean there is no guaranteed money in it, wouldn't it?

I have seen it reported on the net that it's a 2 year deal but have not seen a dollar figure to go with that.

I'm guessing that is the case. If we got him for vet minimum, then he does not count against the cap - at least I think that is how it works.

Via Jason LaCanfora:

"LB London Fletcher's contract with WSH is 5yrs, but voids to 2yrs. The 2yr deal is worth $10.75M, with $5.25M fully guaranteed"

Age cost London on this deal. The Redskins would have paid him $15-18M if he had been 27 and lead the NFL in tackles.
