Yep, that's pretty bad "analysis". Stats geeks can get too carried away, which is what it looks like to me here, particularly with Carriker. Football ain't baseball, folks.

I've slowly but surely become more optimistic about our direction ever since Gibbs came back. Even the Zorn years weren't an entirely dark time for me since somewhere, deep down inside I think I knew the Zorn hire was probably the beginning of the end of the Snyderatto cluster****.

With our F.O. making a bold move to get us a franchise QB AND and seizing the opportunity presented by the wealth of talent at WR in F.A. this year I'm positively giddy. If it doesn't work out, at least we'll have gone out with no rounds left, shooting for excellence instead of playing it safe.

Former Colts President Bill Polian — now working as an ESPN analyst — drafted Pierre Garcon in the sixth round of the 2008 draft, so he’s probably as good a talking head as any to talk about Garcon signing with the Redskins.

“There’s a lot to like,” Polian said Tuesday afternoon. “It’s a great signing by the Redskins, and this is a big blow to the Colts — they really wanted to re-sign him. He’s got great size, great speed, played at Division III Mount Union College, now just coming into his own in the NFL.

“He’s young, 26 years old. World-class speed; he can go deep. And he’s 6 feet, well above 205 pounds. He needs refinement with route running, but in the West Coast offense, where they look for big receivers who can go across the middle catch the ball and run with it after the catch, Pierre Garcon can do that. He is a perfect fit for the West Coast offense....

“With [Robert Griffin III’s] ability to throw that ball deep off the bootleg, going to his left, turn around and throw it 55 yards deep down the field on the other side of the field, Pierre will be there to get it. That’s a huge, huge weapon for them.”

Actually, the backup QB situation here in Dallas has been a hot topic although most of the people talking about it were really looking for Dallas to pick up someone in the draft this year or next to start grooming as Romo's eventual replacement because Tony isn't getting any younger.
 
Romo is 33 years old.

The las time I checked the guarantee portion of his contract is well worked through.

It would not surprise me to see Orton starting for Dallas in the future.

I think it was a good move.

Lot better backup and spot starter than Grossman has ever been.

Ok nice to have Bill on our side but"...has great size, will work well in the WC where they like to send big receivers across the middle of the field"? Since when is 6ft "big" or "great size" especially by NFL standards?

As an aside, speed not withstanding it looks like the Smurfs v2. I sure hope Hankerson works out for us or we have no size at all besides Davis.
 
CT..yea...I was wondering about red Zone implicaitons and thinking the same thing: get healthy Hank!!! time will tell.

I keep seeing people say Orton is a good QB on this board. He's not that good, people. He's not as good as Rex Grossman? Then why did he lose his job to him?

Because McDaniels was an idiot? A lot of people around the league were critical of that move. Think the Broncos would have liked to have Orton last year?
