Rob Lowe said that he has insider info on Peyton Manning and that the Colts QB will retire. I think we need some confirmation from Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, and Judd Nelson before saying this will happen.

Sports mediots in the Cleveland market are saying that the Browns will not be moving up in the draft.
 
Kiper's first mock has us taking Claiborne CB out of LSU. With Luck, Blackmon, Kalil, RG3(NO!!!!!) and Richardson off the board I would think the Skins would try to move down but if they can't BPA would suggest Claiborne is the no brainer pick.
 
mel kiper keeps hearing manning to washington ...i've always wanted manning in washington but is he able to play still , i know he doesn't want to retire also with that being said another report says there not to into flynn..but that can be a rumor to keep everyone on there toes....i still want RG3 in burgundy and gold !
 
Yep, we are going to hear it all at this time of year. I just don't see Peyton a fit in Washington but that's is just me. However, if we pick up Peyton then we kiss RG3 goodbye. We would have to use that #6 overall pick to build up the offense for Peyton. We would like to pick Blackmon or try to moving down to get more picks.
 
I want a franchise QB as much as anyone but I don't think Peyton, in his current unknown condition, is the answer in DC.

In his first mock draft of the year, Kiper has the Browns selecting the Baylor tandem of quarterback Robert Griffin III and wide receiver Kendall Wright with the fourth and 22nd overall picks, respectively, on April 26. The Browns have two first-round picks in 2012 because of their draft-day trade last year with the Atlanta Falcons.

Of course, Kiper’s projections will change after the NFL Scouting Combine, which begins Feb. 22, and free agency, which starts March 13. Still, Kiper is convinced the Browns must acquire a quarterback and a wide receiver they can plug into the starting lineup. The Browns ranked 29th in offense (288.8 yards per game) and 30th in scoring (13.6 points per game) during the 2011 regular season.

“They have to get a quarterback,” Kiper said Thursday on a national conference call. “I think they pretty much resolved themselves to the fact that they’re gonna go that route. They’re gonna probably kick Colt McCoy to the curb. That’s what happens with a lot of young quarterbacks who don’t have great physical qualifications, and he struggled. and more 6-10/9-7 seasons are inevitable. most likely a totally new coaching staff in two years. this team has clowned around too long at the QB position. it cannot win in the division without a quality QB.
 
Mo' Claiborne, while a tremendous athlete and potentially the next shut-down CB in the NFL, would be flashes of the Snyderatto days. We just can't make that pick, no matter how porous our secondary is. We just can't!
 
I am left to wonder what Kiper's real success rate is at predicting the draft. Anybody know?

Pretty good, Neo. The Huddle Report follows mock drafts and rates their performance by assigning points as follows:

Mock Drafts are scored as follows: Player (P) in round = 1 point - Player Matched (M) to team = 2 points

Here are the averages over the past 5 years-as you cn see, Kiper does pretty well.

He didn't do all that well with the 2011 draft scoring a 40 which tied him for 26th place-Gosselin, Boris and Fronzac were the top 3 for 2011. Rich Gosselin has been the overall best for some time.

Maybe a better question is "Which of Kiper's drafts gets graded and how much does he change his mocks from the first one to the last one?"

My guess is that the answer is that his last mock before the actual draft is what gets graded and that there is a lot of change between his first and last.

Need to overhaul my Mock Contest grading scheme shortly and get this years contest announced.

I would say probably his last mock is used. One reason is that Gosselin is notorious for being among the last to release his mock draft, usually pretty close to the draft itself. He's rumored to have some kind of "insider" link to several GMs but this hasn't been confirmed. Most of the people doing mock drafts change them fairly often-especially after the combine.

I was thinking about this as I have been scouting :)laugh:) college prospects. Are you going to wait until after free agency opens or will you do a staggered contest? Perhaps scoring for pre-free agency, then just before the combine, and then one last one before the draft starts scoring each accordingly?
 
Can someone please inform me on any updates as far as the conventional wisdom goes about our chances of getting RG3? All along I've felt that we would need to give up the farm to the Rams in the second spot to get him. Otherwise Cleveland jumps all over him. Is that still where things still stand?
 
'It doesn't matter who' couldn't be more wrong. It totally, absolutely matters who. Now there may be more than one 'who', but 'who' matters a great deal. I suspect this burggold cat meant - any QB we draft will be an improvement over Grossman/Beck. Even that's not guaranteed but I get the point.

Essentially the article is stating the obvious, that all QBs have flaws, and RGIII is no exception. There are no guarantees. I'll take RGIII's natural ability over all other factors. He's an instinctive and physically-gifted QB who can make throws from anywhere on the field. The bonus? He's smart, motivated, and highly coachable.
