RG3 will declare for draft

From Walter Football--a pretty good source in my opinion:

Thus far in 2011, Griffin has completed 72 percent of his passes for 3,998 yards with 36 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also rushed for 644 yards and nine touchdowns.

I love hearing Walter use words like "phenomenal" to describe a qb's accuracy all over the field.

Peyton Manning + Vick. Honestly, what more could anyone ask for?

It's okay - I was kind of expecting at least one person to miss the joke, and then jump up and point out that neither his dad nor grand-dad even played college football. They may have, I don't even know, but may not have :)
 
hmmm...I bet he declares. everything this guy has done has been accelerated.
 
Nice decision on his part. My question is does he fit the scheme of the shannys and if not would they be willing to adjust their offense to suit him as we saw the Panthers and Broncos did with Cam and Tebow?

I still think we will be outbid to get him and if the front office thinks that also, we might aggressively go after the Packers backup QB and if successful, use the 6th pick on a playmaker like Blackmon,a LB or Cover corner.

Redskins draft RG3, get a stud QB AND some slightly tamer Clinton Portis-esque antics back in the locker room? This is win-win!
 
Unless the Colts pull a fast one and sign RG3 themselves, he'll go in the #2 spot. We may have to battle with Cleveland to get that pick from the Rams. The Rams need receivers and Justin Blackmon should still be available at Cleveland's #4 spot.

However, they also need OL help. If Shanny wants RG3 bad enough, I'm wondering if he'll sweeten the pot and throw in Trent Williams and Chris Cooley in lieu of our 2nd round pick and/or that 2nd first round pick. It wouldn't surprise me too much if we went that route in order to hold onto picks.

The more I see and hear about Griffin the more amped I am about taking the gamble and moving up to get him.

Certainly not surprising. You see what a high character guy with less ability has done in Denver. I just can't see him being a bust.
 
I'll say it again in this thread like others. Please, DO NOT trade picks to move up! I would love Andrew Luck, but I wouldn't trade the picks for him either. I'd much rather go with a FA QB and use #6 on BPA that's a OL, CB or trade back. Even if RG3 falls to #6 IF we get an offer that's too good to refuse then trade.
 
My question is for all the people that want us to take RG3. I have said many times that I am still on the fence about trading up for RG3 but this is a question that I have asked myself. Do we do anything at QB in free agency this year, if Shanahan is ready trade up for RG3. Don't we still have to take a QB in free agency? Just in case we don't get RG3. Second question is who? Lots of QBs will be available this offseason. No superstars but some guys that could come in and start until a rookie(Tannehill, Foles or whoever) will be ready to go.

I guess the question is what is the strategy for Shanahan if he plans on trading up for RG3. What do you guys think?
 
Rex was on a one year deal so I have a feeling he either gets re-signed or we grab a guy like Orton.....IF we draft a rookie QB in the first two rounds.

If Mike prefers Matt Flynn then it's harder to predict the backup although I doubt it would be Rex.
 
If we pursue, and land, a veteran free agent QB other than Rex, Rex is gone.

This question will almost certainly be answered before the draft.

As I have often said, I do not care where from, the answer to our QB prayers come. So long as they are answered.
 
We can't overlook the importance of coaching the South squad in Senior Bowl. Not sure if Tannehill will play (due to injury), but we will get a good look at other prospects.

If we can't get RG3, then this should give the FO a good plan B. Someone else mentioned the idea of drafting 2 QB's. Maybe we find a good prospect for later rounds.
