I'd take Bradford over anything we've currently got - but the truth is, there's scant to no evidence he's going to be a true franchise QB the caliber of a Drew Brees or Philip Rivers. He *looks* like that kind of QB, but actually progressing and ultimately being able to perform like one - I think it's far from a lock that he can do that. It seems like the really great QBs learn quickly and elevate the teams they are on, rather than having to have perfect talent around them in order to be successful as some suggest. That we're not seeing that with Bradford may be telling.

That type of thinking is exactly what makes Irsay's plan so brilliant.

But for one thing, a lot more people other than Irsay would have to be in on that plan, and keep it a secret, which is one of the many things that makes it highly improbable.

Also, you realize how much your "Dr Evil Irsay" would have to pay each of his players and coaches to follow along with this ?

On the "suck for Luck" topic, there was a fascinating interview on the radio yesterday....and possible fines to come.

The owner of the Orlando Predators football team (Arena league) said he would definitely, 100% suck for Luck if he owned a team in the NFL, and that he believes it is happening. He then kind of jokingly said that he would give his coach a $1 million bonus this year if he finished 0-16, and got Luck. He believes Luck is the best prospect since Peyton Manning.

He said it will be clear only after the season is over, on which teams threw games intentionally. The teams that finish 0-16, or 1-15, and don't fire their HCs are those attempting to throw games.

He said that only the owner and coach need to be in on it, and that it is most easily achieved by benching players with insignificant injuries.

I couldn't believe he said this on the radio, and if the Arena league gives out fines, I imagine he will get one.

While it seems contrary to everything I want to believe about the NFL, I can see how the Colts would prefer to finish 0-16, rather than 3-13 this year.

Boone, the talent on the Rams is far worse than what we have here, the Oline there is pathetic, no running game at all, and no nfl calibre receivers at the moment. to develop a qb needs protection and guys who run good routes and catch the ball. I think Carr is a great example, he was shellshocked by the time they got some talent around him.

I'd love to hear the half-time speech/pep talk from a head coach who is supposedly knowingly "throwing games", while his players supposedly don't realize it :

"Guys, we're down 35-0 with 2 quarters left. Defense, you've given up 430 total yards in the first half. Offense, you've totaled 12 yards. I'm so proud of you guys. Keep up the good work. Whatever you're doin is working !!"

Colts are the worst team and unlike St. Louis where injuries to Bradford and Jackson are part of the equation, Indy isn't going to be recovering anyone that is going to help them win from here on out.

62-7 last week showed who the worst team in the NFL is.

The Redskins are going to have to look to the post-Luck group of quarterbacks including Landry Jones and Barkley in the first round.

Might as well just get used to that outcome instead of conjuring up a powerhouse trade that solves all problems at once.

Those don't come around too often.

Carr could also be a great example for what I'm suggesting. I believe Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers would have thrived no matter where they landed. I don't buy into the 'environment' argument - sorry. Great QBs find a way to thrive. A dearth of talent may slow their development, but for the great ones it doesn't cripple them.

I just don't see the dazzling talent with Bradford. I like him, and he's chock full of 'potential', but I have doubts he'll ever be a perennial pro bowler, and only some of that has to do with the Rams. My opinion.

I will agree to disagree then, because I firmly believe that for a position like QB that is so dependant on the players around you, in the NFL if you dont get decent protection and dont have at least decent receivers, you wont develop or succeed. Bradford sadly is in that boat. I don't think Brady would have done as well had he not stepped onto a team already built for bledsoe, rodgers had the luxury of learning slowly with zero pressure, Brees perhaps could be a solid argument for you but even he had decent teams around him. If nothing else a young QB needs a solid Oline. Manning when younger, had solid teams around him, the colts havent gradually deteriorated, its been pretty fast, the past 3 seasons they have just looked worse and worse, what saved them was manning was already developed and could carry a team, I have never seen a rookie qb who could.
