Michael was a passionate Skins fan and a loyal BGO member from the very beginning and has been a huge part of our community here for a decade.

Michael, despite being quadraplegic due to a horrible accident in his youth, always had an incredible attitude about his challenges. He was a hell of a graphic artist, loved his salt water aquariums and animals, and his faith was very important to him.

We will miss you greatly brother!

Michael's Obituary
Mr. Michael Ray Huffman, age 53, went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday August 26, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Monday, August 29th, 2022, at New Testament Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1:00pm.

Michael was born in Guilford County to Patsy and Bobby Huffman. He was a graduate at Ben L. Smith High School and furthered his education with online classes. In 1992, he was injured on the job and became a quadriplegic where he remained in a wheelchair. After his accident, he was initially hospitalized in Raleigh, NC, and transitioned to Shepherd Spinal Center of Atlanta where he received excellent care. Following Shepherd Spinal Center, he was able to move back home with his parents, in their new home, where they were able to build a home to accommodate Michaels’s disabilities.

Michael loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his sweet baby dog Bailey. He enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing and art. After he was paralyzed, he enjoyed his fish tanks, collecting geckos, his computer, and online gaming.

Michael loved the Lord and was secure in his Salvation. Michael attended New Testament Baptist Church where he enjoyed the preaching of Rev. Brett Seawell and the music program. He was so thankful and grateful for the youth of New Testament Baptist Church Youth for their friendship, love, gifts, and prayers.

Michael was preceded in death, at a young age, by his father Bobby Ray Huffman.

He is survived by his parents Patsy and Jimmy Wilson; brothers Brian Huffman who he called “Baby”, Kenneth Wilson and wife Sheryl, Jeffery Wilson and wife Susan; sister Tammy Coulter and husband Kevin of Charlotte; nephews Jason Wilson (Jackie), Jeremy Wilson (Hannah); nieces Erin Blackman (Sam), Delaney Galvin (Kris Kusterman); great-niece Emilia Blackman.

A special thanks to his caregivers Victoria McBee, Angie Moore, Lee Smith, and Rebecca Ann. An additional special thank you to his workman’s comp case adjuster Tammy Batchelor and his nurse care manager Jessica.
