So you're saying you think Coleman should be tried at RT before potentially moving him to G?

I was actually thinking that Wylie might make sense to move in to RG. The biggest issue I've seen with him is that he can be really susceptible in space, especially to inside-out or outside-in moves, where he can get caught flat-footed. So I think with less space to worry about at RG he might...

Gardner Minshew highlights exist, too. Doesn't mean he's a very good player.

    The 2025 Draft Thread

Why are some people seemingly using 40 times and top end speed to talk about aspects of the RB position that have to do with explosion? A guy being quick and explosive and being able to hit holes hard has little to do with how fast he can run a 40 yard dash. It has more to do with lateral...

What specific metric are you using to judge that he's too slow? If so, what is your specific cutoff number in that metric where a guy goes from fast enough for the NFL to not fast enough?

Not sure why people would be down on Skattebo. Dude is tough, quick, has amazing contact balance, good vision, and good patience but hits the hole hard when he finds it. I doubt he'll last till our 3rd round pick. I'd be fine with him as our 2nd rounder.

I'd give up a 2nd for him. Remember that we'd also likely have to give him a blockbuster extension too. He's pretty good but he's not a guy who strikes terror into opposing offenses.

JAG = Just Another Guy Basically, an average rando player who doesn't have much impact at all.

I'd say Ekeler is the only RB on the roster who isn't a JAG. But he's old (for a RB) and has major injury concerns. We really need an infusion of talent in the running game.

I'd be very worried if we run it back with BRob as our main rushing weapon. Yeah the OL wasn't very good at run blocking, but it was clear that he not only oftentimes wasn't seeing the holes well, but was also tentative in hitting them and had very little wiggle or lateral burst. I also don't...

Yep. Another reason he's unlikely to be a fit here, given DQ's stressing of physicality, etc.

He's also just not all that great. Pretty decent playmaker/ball hawk in a zone system, but is small-ish and gets bullied in man coverage. He's also coming off of a season ending injury last year.

He kinda screams "mediocre" to me. He's got meh size, decent athleticism, ok burst, but nothing special. Watching his cutups it looks like most of his sacks and TFLs came from either coverage sacks or when he was unblocked scheme-wise. I guess I'd be ok with him as a mid or late rounder.

I get the "elephant end" idea, but at 6'5 315, I can't see Kinlaw being an edge rusher from a 5 or 7 tech position. Maybe he kicks inside in obvious passing situations? If so, who is then our edge rusher? Are we potentially selling out to stop the run at the expense of not being very good at...

    The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Who cares if he was a 3rd round pick? How many 3rd round picks end up being elite All-Pros? That argument is so stale. It reminds me of when people would say things like "Well, Tom Brady was a 6th round pick!" when debating about taking a QB high in the draft or trying to trade or sign one for a...

It's not about "freaking out" it's about realizing that after 2026 we'll likely have to hand JD the biggest contract in NFL history. That will probably be close to $500 million, which will become a decent portion of our cap. After that, we'll have to rely a lot on the draft vs bringing in impact...

You get what you pay for. Hendrickson is the #2 edge rusher in the entire NFL, just behind Garrett, and is someone that offenses will immediately have to game plan for. With that 2nd rounder we could probably draft at least a serviceable player, if not a solid starter. The chances of that 2nd...

    The 2025 Free Agency Thread

I really don't see why it would be a bad idea to give up a 2nd round pick for a first team All-Pro stud edge rusher. I get the ideology of building through the draft. But we have a 2 season window to win a SB before we have to make JD the highest paid player in NFL history and will then have to...

Right, but tenure doesn't really matter as much as age. Metcalf just turned 27, so he's 2.5 years younger than Terry, who will be 30 at the beginning of this season. That said, he did have a career year, so I assume he'll probably still get a pretty good chunk of change.
