The Front Office: Adam Peters and Roster Construction

That’s why I said if And if we do then AP will have clearly sat on that Aiyuk deal and let it influence our earlier FA approach at receiver. Time will tell once the draft passes and we make further moves.

If we give Aiyuk a 1 year $10m prove it deal, then that money could have been thrown at either one of those receivers as additional signing bonus in free agency.

Same, makes no sense. There is also the risk that we subsequently overspend through desperation post draft. Let’s see what money we potentially throw at Aiyuk for example. Must admit I’m also frustrated with the FO at present. Not sure the draft is going to cure that, hopefully we nail the...

The Front Office: Adam Peters and Roster Construction

That’s a point I’ve considered raising before now. The answer is yes, this offseason with the amount of cap space, talent required, and short favourable contract left with Jayden, then yes we should have. Vinny was a clown, you can’t argue we’d have had the top receiver flying in on Redskins 1...

Will he arrive at the facility carrying a football like Dotson ?

Won’t be long until a greater number of receivers are in the $40m+ AAV contract range and the Pierce deal will be top 20-25 money. At least we have a boatload of cap space left……

The Front Office: Adam Peters and Roster Construction

Very aggressive and missing out on key targets is not aggressive enough in my book. AP should have absolutely gone all in on a couple more FA. He gets too much leeway. If it’s a safe draft then he’s underwhelmed again. Got to be some creativity and a couple of key acquisitions ahead.

Still think a might be getting another team to bite on a trade up. Maybe NO or KC for Delane. That said, I agree corner is a massive issue so if he’s got shutdown potential, I’d be fine with this pick. Isn’t this a deep CB draft, much like WR ?

    The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I think we could see the other 3 NFCE teams being aggressive in round 1. Giants trade up from #10 to acquire 2 blue chips from the top 5 Cowboys trade up using their 2 first rounders for a top prospect. Eagles trade up using multiple future picks for a top prospect. They then get the equivalent...

I think you are bang on here. This is a big draft for AP, time to back up the reputation we were sold.

Maybe we are trying to get NO or KC to trade up above us to take him.

    Yeah that’s not ideal.

Agree, but he’d be the player to go after. Doesn’t seem to work as a trade right now though.

Brian Thomas Jr is the one to get. Jags need DL too.

Yeah I don’t get the trading down for Delane line. Trade down, take a WR, then go CB on day 2 with the acquired pick. Or bounce back up for Chris Johnson, SD State CB, he’s is a damn good corner.

Trade down. Trade Payne. Come on AP, that’s the way forward.

Giants should trade up from #10 and take Styles and Downs.

    The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Giants should trade up from #10 now and pick twice in the top 5 or 6.

Agree, that’s the defining part of this draft for me. Drafting for need with the #7 pick. No thanks.

Well if nothing else I think day one of the draft will be a very good indicator of what we really have at GM.
