  1. Random Commanders Thoughts

McD - really a shame we aren't in a position to take either Ramsey or Hargreaves. Both are positions of need for us. Remember - elite D draft picks for our future elite D!! Has The Scot written all over it!
  2. Random Commanders Thoughts

What makes you think that? I haven't been blown away with him thus far, to be honest.
  3. Random Commanders Thoughts

And this is why I'm conflicted on taking a tall WR with one of our first 3 draft picks. They don't correlate with success, but I can't help but feel that it would help our team to have one. If we went purely by the numbers, we probably get biggest bang for our buck taking as many elite D...
  4. Random Commanders Thoughts

I can go back and layer on top the Top RB into the mix. To be honest, my takeaway from this really was that if you had to choose, "elite D" wins over "elite QB" everytime. I interpret the fact that only 3 teams won with an elite QB that had no elite D, but many more Super Bowl winners over the...
  5. Random Commanders Thoughts

Not sure this is going to work but trying to attach the worksheet I made. See below for the summary. Warning: This is quite lengthy Based on my earlier post, there appears to be some disagreement about whether or not Scot McCloughlan’s approach to building an elite defense as the quickest...
  6. Random Commanders Thoughts

I did an interesting analysis and have a spreadsheet with the stats for the last 20-25 years of SB winners that's pretty eye opening. I'll try and figure out how to post it here.
  7. Cooley Breakdowns

I hear you but he has been an NFL starter for several years on a team whose offense was very effective. I have to think that after a couple of weeks of getting back into game shape and studying the playbook that he's a much better answer than what we have now. The LaReibus experiment should be...
  8. Random Commanders Thoughts

Elite QBs are way less predictive of winning a SB than is having an elite D. We need to get off this thing where we are constantly searching for the next Andrew Luck. They make the regular season so much more fun to watch but having an elite D is what is on the thinking fan's wish list if they...
  9. Random Commanders Thoughts

Quoted for truth. Hopefully The Scot is taking notes from the sidelines. I think the coaching is one of the weaknesses of our nascent, rebuilding team and Barry is no exception.
  10. Random Commanders Thoughts

The folks you keep on that list are: Reed, Young, Cousins, and maybe Thompson The folks you need to draft on O next year are: Center, Guard, Tall WR Pick up TE depth in FA. All of the rest have to be on the D.
  11. Cooley Breakdowns

Don't we have the guy from the Saints now backing him up at center? DeLaPuente, I think?
  12. Cooley Breakdowns

He needs to be cut and we need to address Center (and maybe Guard) in the draft. I'm hoping that Moses/Scheriff are just young and will eventually dominate the R side of the line
  13. Random Commanders Thoughts

I know it may be unpopular to say this, but I kinda like Witten. Tough as nails and seems like a genuinely good guy. Hated facing him as a Skins fan, but I hate to see a guy go out like that.
  14. Random Commanders Thoughts

Would agree that we need this BUT we need an elite ILB in those first 3 rounds as well. That would take our D to next level. Someone with real leadership abilities, aka London Fletcher. We haven't been the same since he left.
  15. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

Thank you for stating this. I would agree. We need to take the long view here. There is something to me that seems improved at the QB position over past years. The problem is that Kirk doesn't have all of the pieces around him (including a consistent D) to really take this team to the next...
  16. how you lose is important

Plenty of great picks to be had in the middle rounds. In fact, I think the most successful FOs pick in the middle rounds (not consistently in the top - see Jaguars, Titans, Lions).
  17. Tracking the Trenches

Riggotoni - do you think Long could develop that skill (better run blocking) or is it likely innate? I was really liking our run game for the first two weeks although we've hit a wall with the Giants and Eagles.
  18. Kirk Cousins Development Tracker

I'm not trying to be easy on the kid but the F- performance came against a division rival in their house after a short week. He needs to improve, no doubt, but I think he's showing some signs. Doesn't let a horrible performance like the Giants game ruin his confidence. That is critically...
  19. Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2015 (Continual Updates)

I haven't followed Mays since he was a prospect coming out of the draft. Has he done well? Would he be a good fit for us?
  20. Random Commanders Thoughts

I would also say that this doesn't just apply to the OL but also elite DT/NTs. Our DL (outside of OLB) consists all of free agents - no real home grown talent. Not sure why this team can't figure out you build from the lines out. Skill players can be had in FA - good OL/DL cannot.
