Who was the best free agent signing in Washington History

With us he received two rings and a pass from the President.

Who was the best free agent signing in Washington History

I do remember Ricky played with Kelly in Houston and wanted to play in Buffalo with him. I assume he thanks his personal God each night for not taking that path. ;)

Who was the best free agent signing in Washington History

Jim Kelley was drafted by both the Houston Gamblers and the Buffalo Bills, but chose Houston. Did not arrive in Buffalo until the USFL went the way of the dodo bird. On a side note: I attended the final Washington Federals game at RFK. Plus the final Skins game and the final DC United match.

Who was the best free agent signing in Washington History

Without Googling, hadn't all the USFL players already been drafted by the NFL? Meaning that, they could play in other leagues (or sports as Elway threatened) but the individual teams who had drafted them held their NFL rights once the USFL had folded.

Who was the best free agent signing in Washington History

Riggo and Williams paid obvious dividends. Wilbur Marshall played like man possessed In Super Bowl XXVI.

What was the best trade in Redskins/Commanders history?

Historically, I would say it's a tie between bringing Sonny and Bobby Mitchell here. Despite both of them playing in a mostly woeful era, they both became Redskin icons as well as institutions. Bobby was our Jackie Robinson and moved on to the front office. He was also a damn good player. Sonny...

    Thift shop/Garage sell finds

Great find. I would have grabbed it in a heartbeat.

    The Stadium Thread

You are correct and your points solid. Being a prisoner to nostalgia, I would personally prefer we emulate Lambeau Field and the environs. Lambeau has more seating (than RFK) yet sits on less total space. There is suitable parking and a number of commercial establshments geared towards the...

    The Stadium Thread

Yea Snider is speculating. But he has always cited the neighbors around RFK has being more organized and opposed than in the past. I hate to admit it, but I would rather them remain at Landover than play in a dome in DC. They'll look like something out of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century...

    The Stadium Thread

Once again, if the Super Bowl gave a decent return, New Orleans would resemble Monte Carlo or at least somewhere like Grand Rapids. It goes to the issue that sports is really not much of an economic engine. I would speculate that is why the RFK site is being peppered with retail, housing, etc...

    The Stadium Thread

I understand it from a marketing perspective. Image is everything. But one-off events like the Super Bowl do not bring much. Sure, a lot of cash comes in, but it is counterbalanced by the costs of increased police, EMT, Fire Dept, etc. And having grown up in DC proper, I feel confident in...

    The Stadium Thread

Nice to have home field advantage in the SB. Still, I doubt hosting an SB would do much for DC. Not like New Orleans has ever ascended economic rankings.

Gotta ask, why host a Super Bowl?

Sounds like they are building an urban shopping mall that, among other things, features an NFL franchise. Pike & Rose with the NFL. Color me cynical.

~* Breaking *~ - Commanders trade for Deebo Samuel

Should be a good get. Welcome to Washington, Deebo.

Josh Harris Speaks... Commanders is permanent name.

Hypothetical Question: Let's say that instead of Snyder the Skins had a more ... reasonable gentleman as owner after JKC (John Jr, a Rooney type, etc). Would such a person have managed the name change pressure better?

    Sports Cards

I still have my baseball and football card collections. I moved back to DC about 20 years ago and fished them out of my parents' attic. Luckilly, they were covered with other things which protected them from the heat. Got them organized in binders, etc. Doing some online research, I learned...

(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

That is the classic look from the Gibbs Era. It would work fine, although it would still have that (imho) hideous W.

(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

I do not understand why they did not or will not switch to Redsomething. They'll capitulate to a woken mob, but ignore their own fans and heritage. They'll reinvent everything rather than just slashing 1/2 of a word. I just don't get it and I suppose I never will.

Josh Harris Speaks... Commanders is permanent name.

One aspect that really sickened me was all the media people who jumped on the bandwagon. Courtland Milloy (Washington Post) wrote how he had been JKC's guest many times at games and whooped it up. But now he saw that it was a racist slur. Michael Wilbon said much the same. And nobody bothered...
