  1. Free Agents we should be looking at

Actually I think more than FA players we should be looking for replacements for some of our coaching staff. It's looking like there's going to be significant coaching changes around the league and I'd love to see us take advantage of that to replace Haslett (Rivera, Ryan, Pagano??). Obviously...
  2. The Day After......Has The Shine Wore Off?

Correction, this team hasn't been good enough for the better part of a decade to have teams we're "supposed" to beat. If anything, we've been the team others are "supposed" to beat. That said, we've made a living out of losing games like this for far too long so it's good to finally get a W for...
  3. so far despite our current downswing Rg3 still looks good

I'm a big believer that as RG3 Fan says, real men buck up and admit it when they're wrong. I have to admit that when all the RGIII talk started I pictured another M. Vick type player and was immediately against the idea....until I actually watched him play and read about his accuracy...
  4. NFL Pickem 2012!

Ahhh, another week of utter and complete futility. 8-5-1. :toilet: :wall: ...but then that's what makes it so much fun. :twitch:
  5. NFL Pickem 2012!

Thanks El but I can't lie, I was fighting the "have you lost your mind?" urge to change that pick right up until the last minute. However I think Serv's picking the Colts over the Pack was more impressive.
  6. This game could NOT have summed up the 'abandon the run' issue better.

I have to admit that to some degree I had similar thoughts to Lanky's. That said I think it makes sense to remember that we were playing with essentially one healthy RB. If Morris had gotten hurt we'd have been down to a gimpy Royster and Ryan Grant who's only a week away from flipping burgers...
  7. NFL Pickem 2012!

OK, so it looks like I might be trying to get back into this thing. Had I decided to change my pick to the Rams just a little bit sooner, I'd be in the driver's seat to win this week. Nevertheless, this beats the heck out of a couple of weeks ago which was just brutal.
  8. Who should start at QB next week, if RG3 can't ?

Not turned on but certainly laughing like hell. :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: I'd say we have to start Cousins. As Bulldog pointed out earlier, the plan for Cousins (at least in my mind anyway) has always been to try to have him as a serviceable backup (which Grossman just is NOT BTW) while...
  9. Seahawks Packers Referees SUCK

Total load of crap. Pete Carroll should have at least had the stones to say thanks to the refs for giving the Seahags that game. Unbelievable.
  10. The unpleasant truth

I had this thought during the game too. The way we were gashing them in the running game I think we would have been more effective limiting our deep stuff to occasional shots on play action combined with a lot more underneath routes. In this case I have to agree with your usual question, i.e...
  11. The unpleasant truth

I honestly don't know which is worse, our OL or our defensive backfield. At the very least the OL seems to be able to get us some production in the running game. However we need to greatly reduce the triple option stuff or we're going to get RGIII killed. It should be a few plays a game type...
  12. Griffin may be a passing QB - But it's his legs that will confuse defenses

I've said this before but what the heck. I've wondered who knows how many times watching Michael Vick play just how devastating he could be if only he really understood the passing game. From everything we've seen to date RGIII is "that" guy. I can only imagine the awesomeness we're about to...
  13. Shhh... I like this team

Did I hear somebody say punchline? I really am going to be content to enjoy the ride this year. Sure I'd like for us to overachieve my expectations of a 7 or 8 win season but the fun this year is in being able to watch the development of the first franchise QB we've had around here since Joey...
  14. Farewell, 47

I've been busy for a day or so and Cooley's release is what I get when I come back? Sheesh. Well damn if that doesn't suck. I can't say I'm terribly shocked about it though. I got a bad feeling about him during OTA's (I think it was) when he still had a noticeable limp. That wasn't telling in...
  15. PFT: TO Is Back. Signs A One Year Deal With Seattle

Too bad he didn't put a little effort into remembering how to catch a football.
  16. Roster Cutdown Day: 90 to 75 today.

I have to admit I was mildly surprised that we kept "Oh NO" over Rackers. I think we may regret that decision down the road.
  17. Jammal Brown to have hip surgery - out 4-6 weeks.

:ciao: Jammal Contestants not appearing on field will receive a fat NFL contract and loads of time off to contemplate what could have been...and roll Jammal Brown theme music in three, two, one....
  18. RG3 to Moss TD: A Breakdown

I think this play is both a window into a lot of our offense this season as well as the answer to our less than excellent offensive line. I think we'll be seeing a lot of rollouts, misdirection plays and designed runs for RG3 mixed in with a fair amount of screens this season, obviously much...
  19. SI: Kevin Kelley, Unconventional Coach. Opponent Down 29-0 Before Touching The Ball

It's an interesting strategy that probably only works for Kelley because it exploits probably the weakest area of HS teams, i.e. special teams. I suspect most HS kickers struggle outside of 30 yards which gives him a big advantage. In contrast 50+ yard FGs are not at all uncommon in the NFL so...
  20. Is Year 3 for Shanahan Really Like Year 2 In A Regular Coaching Cycle?

Shanahan inherited a team full of crap, mismatched pieces, projects that never panned out and older vets leftover from prior regimes, oh, and with little or no depth to boot due to a decade of mortgaging the future. Given that, he's probably been lucky to get as many wins as he has. The first...
