    Random Commanders Thoughts

I think having JD5 on this team changed the perception of building a team over the long term to get sustainable winning. I know Jayden Daniels is going to cost a lot of money in a couple seasons but I see other teams paying their elite QBs and still managing to build contender caliber teams...

    The Jayden Daniels Tracker

I don't really have an issue with Daniels running it's more what he does once he takes off. Hurts runs a lot but manages to avoid big hits most of the time because he is focused on the open field and gets down as soon as danger lurks. I think also a big difference is running under duress...

If I was Shanahan I would have pulled RGIII after the Sherman INT because it showed that the hit he took on his second TD pass injured his knee enough that he couldn't effecrively plant on the knew because Garcon was definitely open but that ball was underthrown which wasn't characteristic of RGIII.

Oh man it is probably Lavar for me too. Had all the athleticism & physical tools you could ask for but none of the discipline and he made it a point to blame everyone but himself when his lack of discipline was exposed on the field. Runner up might be Michael Westbrook because looking back at...

    The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I think when you are building a roster from scratch through the draft what is going to happen is you end up with some players who you were hoping to be starters that end up valuable depth, but then other players you thought would be depth emerge into something else. Quality depth players are...

I can see why Maye was put ahead of Daniels going into this season but I wouldn't even take an improved Caleb Williams over what I have already seen JD5 as a pro at this point.

The Front Office: Adam Peters and Roster Construction

I think we are seeing the difference between drafting a QB before you have the team versus some other teams who were already years into their rebuild when they drafted their future QBs. JD5's first team seasons were basically on a roster that was only go as far as he could take them. I think...

    The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I have no idea of what to make of Sinnott as far as what remaining potential he has. I think it is fair to say that during his rookie campaign it made sense to work him in slowly, less as a pass catcher because Ertz was exceeding expectations on the field and couple that with the trust JD5 had...

    The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Was having this discussion earlier today about the WR room, I think when it comes to WR depth at the 3-4-5 spots the WR room is adequate, maybe better, but the glaring hole on paper at least is the lack of a solid WR #2 especially when the #1 is more of a fringe on the bubble caliber #1 rather...

I think that is the remaining question I and a lot of others have with Aiyuk. Is this just him making the bad decision to express his frustration publicly and he will revert back to "normal-enough football player" once he is officially gone from the 49ers or is the media circus attached to...

    The 2026 Free Agency Thread

No team is going to have mostly elite players, you need to have a lot of players that are simple fundamentally sound, disciplined on the field, and have the trust of their teammates that they are sticking to their assignments. How many times do we see on game film after the fact that when you...

    Random Commanders Thoughts

Looking at the WR situation coupled with the fact that there some names out there that could likely contribute if signed (yeah I know there cons to signing them as well)I am beginning to wonder if the front office & coaching staff are actually happy with the WR room or if they haven't signed any...

    The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I'd say the Eagles in 2024, 49ers for that run where they seemed to get to at least the divisional round every season, Lions (before all the injuries to their defense in 2024) all had rosters you could argue didn't have holes in them. I guess with the Eagles & Lions the argument is neither have...

Yeah when a team has multiple question marks the media is usually not going to argue on the side of all of those factors turning out on the positive side. It doesn't mean they won't change their tune once the product on the field justifies it just as they did in 2024.

    The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Yeah we can't forget how bought in the national media was on this team going into the 2025 season. It is understandable why a lot of the fanbase was on cloud nine coming off 2024 and ready to overlook a lot of the issues and/or downplay the issues they did acknowledge, but the so-called experts...

The HC Dan Quinn Discussion Thread

I think Quinn being on the proverbial "hot seat" is fair, but mostly because last season was a 5 win season rather than a .500 season. If Quinn had somehow figured out a way for the roster to weather the storm and guided them to 8 wins despite the injuries I think it would have eased a lot of...

The Front Office: Adam Peters and Roster Construction

In that NFCC game, details are a little fuzzy on the actual numbers & time it all took place, but after Terry scored the TD to close the gap to a one score game didn't a combination of turnovers and terrible defense basically put the game out of reach before the offense ever really had a decent...

David Blough and the Offensive Staffing Thread

If advertising plans to use play action passing hindered it's success rate, it would have long since been rendered ineffective already. The key is always going to be the ability to actually establish the run game and also have enough balance in the play calling itself.

    The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Something I forgot to add to my previous reply is the question of whether Aiyuk, once signed here or elsewhere, can put the genie back in the bottle and just put his head down and put in the work on the field to get back into the best version of himself or is the circus aspect going to be too...
