    The 2026 Draft Thread - Day 2

I watched Zion Young, the 6'6 262-pound defensive end out of Missouri, against Oklahoma and Alabama. It was a lot of pro-on-pro in those games. Against Oklahoma he saw multiple snaps against Michael Fasusi, a likely future first-rounder (though he was a freshman so he won’t be eligible until...

    Compensatory Pick Formula

I could see scraping it. The NFL usually awards 32 total comp picks so if you scrape it you get the same amount of picks by adding an 8th round. Maybe the order of that 8th round could differ from the rest of the draft based on loss and gains in free agency or other things like coach hirings...

It isn't but Parsons is a pure speed rusher who will turning the corner rather than a speed to power guy and for pass rushers the pure speed guys are the ones least affected by arm length

    The 2026 Draft Thread - Day 2

I watched Chase Bisontis against LSU and came away impressed. He’s a very good athlete and one of the better pass-blocking guards in this class. His game leans more toward finesse than pure physicality in the run game, but he’s still an effective run blocker because of his mobility, balance, and...

    The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

James Foster one of the cohosts of the DaftonDraft podcast has access to the in game data. Back in a October or November episode he said Bains acceleration grade is 90 percentile his top speed is 44 percentile. He is twitchy and gets off the ball very well, maybe elite given his size, but his...

    The 2026 Draft Thread - Day 2

Jacas would be amazing at 71. He is a bit of a high floor low ceiling player, but his ceiling is starter player. Odds are he'll be gone by then. He is 58 on the consensus board. Putting odds at it, there is maybe like a 20% chance he is available. Not impossible, but unlikely. I do...

Its just hard to evaluate Jayden last year. Its possible he regressed. But he was in and out top 6 or so defenese in the NFL (Denver, Seattle, Minnesota, and the Chargers). Additionally while Green Bay's final year defense stats were middle of the pack, they were a good defense early in the...

Oregon and Purdue used him differently at safety and he was good in both roles so he does offer some verstaility as a safety. He can be a free safety or be closer to the line of scrimmage. I think our scheme if it is like Flores scheme would benefit from a verstaile safety so I see that as a plus.

Nice analysis. Did you chart the 2024 or 2025 game? The two games I watched were 2024. He faced press in the games I saw, but since he was always in the slot, he still has a bit of a runway.

    Compensatory Pick Formula

Following up on my last post, I’m curious if anyone else finds this logic as bizarre as I do. To really drive home how "un-mathematical" the math is, I put together three hypothetical scenarios. In these examples, we’re looking strictly at Qualifying Free Agents (CFAs) and their Average Annual...

Mauigoa and Fano, while listed as Tackles, are also excellent Guard prospects. They are probably better Guard prospects than Tackle prospects.

Logan was not detailed enough to convey exactly what he meant. Bain's core move is the club rip and he is good at it. He also also that hump move that meshes the use of his hand with his upper and core body strength. Some moves like a long arm may be less effective and the long arm is one...

    The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I watched Makai Lemon’s 2024 games against Notre Dame and Texas A&M. In both games he was essentially a slot-only receiver and was off the field for stretches, but when he was on the field he was very good. He’s a polished route runner with a thoughtful release package. He showed multiple...

    Compensatory Pick Formula

I was learning the basics of the NFL compensatory pick formula recently, and the rules are actually simpler—and a bit more counterintuitive—than I expected. At a high level, the system awards compensatory picks when a team loses more qualifying free agents than it signs, with each player...

I haven't really taken part of the debate on Bain directly. Indirectly I given two mixed signals on Bain: 1. Listing him below Reese and Bailey on my rankings and 2. Saying that he would still be on board despite the arm length. I also said Gabe Jacas who is one of my favorite players is a...

Faulk would be good in a trade down if we do want a 4i guy for an odd front (assuming that we run something similar to Flores). But if we trade down I want decent compensation for trading down. Faulk is a great run defender in college who is a meh pass rusher with the potential to become better.

It’s tough to digest this kind of news, but I’m leaning toward believing this is a classic case of malinformation. I can’t recall the exact details of the Jihad Campbell situation last year—I thought it was a shoulder and both knees that were flagged, but it could easily have been the other way...

One of the sources for the Caleb Downs rumor — and the source I personally got the information from — was Cory Kinnan from DaftonDraft. That’s a Substack I subscribe to, and I generally find Cory reliable and professional. He’s not a clout-chasing social media poster, and he didn’t put this out...
