    He has to suck it up if this team wants to be successful. I’d sweeten the pot by telling him sometimes he’ll play the 3-tech spot, too and Settle will take some reps there. But he can be a major piece at that nose position.

    I don’t know that this is true. The weak side DT, if in a 3-tech, is 1v1 with a guard. That’s ideal. The two DL who will see more doubles are the nose and the strong side end. But I don’t agree that this scheme is unkind to IDL.

    I’m not entirely sure that Aiyuk is in a place that would allow a positive experience for him. This is a one of a kind situation. And even if he is going to wind up with us, the hat and football is a bit much. But… there are things we don’t know behind the scenes, too. So who knows.

    No concern. I don’t think he does a whole lot in the grand scheme for our offense until he becomes a more well rounded back - which again, I think he can develop into. But if he’s not ready for that yet, him being out isn’t much of a concern to me.

    I think the largest contingent is people who think he’s gone next year. This FO doesn’t like to pay that kind of money. I hope he’s here his whole career. But he’d need to restructure to make that happen I think. And it could. I just won’t hold my breath.
