Just read through the whole thread, thanks all for the updates. Sounds like we had a great day. Looking forward to Friday night. and getting back at it for 2026.
The way things are with this franchise in 2026 I’m 95% satisfied. If they can somehow find a way to pick a more overtly Greco-Roman name at some point in the relative near future I will go to 100%. If I never get to 100% that is ok, but one can wish.
…because to be blunt Commanders is mid at best. We could do better. Some people flat out hate it, some people are like me and think it’s….meh…others just want the name issue to be settled.
Wherever they land on the issue from managing it, nearly everyone I know WOULD change it if they had...
Not a chance in hell for Redskins ever returning. Nor would I want it to at this point because the negative attention would be intolerable.
We can live with Commanders and hope for Sentinels, Spartans, Centurions, Gladiators, etc. etc. eventually. There is nothing wrong with that. Maybe...
For me, one possibility could be they plan to change the name with the new stadium. If that is the plan…there would be no good reason to tell us that now, and we would be getting answers from Josh along the lines of the answers we have been getting. “We are sticking with Commanders”. We still...
What I’m suggesting and maybe I’m not being clear enough is that I think they are using the visual identity to establish the name…not the name to establish the identity. A Cowboy is a Cowboy. An Eagle is an Eagle etc. etc. A Commander(s) is…well lots of things depending on the context. Now...
In hindsight, part of me regrets bringing the name up again because I didn’t wanna rev everybody up on it again. I think the name is absolutely Commanders for the foreseeable future. I’m only speculating that if they establish this Greco-Roman identity, it may open up the door later to...
I think it makes all the sense in the world to fully embrace the Greco-Roman theme for a Washington D.C. based NFL team called the Commanders. While it’s far from a perfect fit.. it works better than anything else I personally can think of. Maybe this eventually opens us up to being able to...
Although Snyder made a fortune, he didn't build it by running a large conventional organization. Owning an NFL franchise requires leadership, delegation, and organizational skills that are very different from those needed to succeed as an entrepreneur. Those shortcomings became apparent during...
I have to say I have seen a pretty significant drop-off from the “bring our brand back assholes!” crowd on social media since the new uniforms were released. For the most part the uniforms have been universally praised, with a lot of the praise going to the vastly improved black uniforms...
From what I understand their freedom to change the primary logo occurs every 5 years. Next year is the 5th year. I think there is a good chance that the alt-logo or one like it becomes the primary next season.
“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”
The name aside…they look like our team again. The visual identity of the Washington football franchise has been preserved.
I read the article in full and it was very well written. I can definitely appreciate how difficult it was to get us to this point. I also appreciated the blunt statement of the fact it was never gonna happen under Snyder. Seeing how complex this was that is becoming increasingly apparent...
I think if they can somehow reduce the height of that last section it wouldn’t block the sight line. You want to be able to see the stadium colonnades as much as possible coming across the Young bridge if possible. In this earlier rendering it doesn’t seem to interfere as much.
I think it’s a subconscious thing as well with this particular version. For many years, a similar black alternate was an aftermarket purchase. In addition to just plain looking better…I think it also looks familiar in a way the others did not. The spear logo helmet is a substantial upgrade as...
Say what you want about the Redskins name change, but the Bullets change made FAR less sense. I’m a casual basketball fan, but that one still boggles the mind.
We can take this offline if somebody wants to discuss, not in this thread, but what did that change actually accomplish? Who was...
