It would prob be Diggs across from McLaurin in 12 personnel and he moves to the slot in base/11 personnel

Can't do nested replies so posting this as a screenshot for my playful "told you so" response to KDawg's "we're standing pat at WR" declaration a few months back!

Diggs probably wants to sit out at least half of training camp at this point, no?

Occam's Razor suggests Aiyuk hasn't lost his mind nor is he playing 3D chess, he's just a moron. Altogether pretty low on the list of red flags in a league full of Rashee Rice's.

Bc they're different skillsets. How many football players who can master a playbook do you think would master reading financial statements? How many bankers who have mastered reading financial statements do you think could master medicine? How many doctors could master programming? I don't think...

I wonder if the FO is trying to project confidence in the WR group to make clear to SF that they are not trading for Aiyuk, in an effort to expedite his release.

If he gets released in a month none of this still will matter or stick in people's minds. It's just noise. Anyway let's see what happens with Diggs first

I think the base case outcome is he reports for training camp, summarily gets cut, and signs here. Hard to see him ready for week 1 in that case. And of course there's a decent chance it drags beyond that for various reasons.

If he reports and they play games to keep him from getting his bonus, the PA will get involved

Right. With Jennings, we knew Minnesota was interested and moving to get something done. It's been nichts neues im Westen with Diggs. The longer Aiyuk remains unavailable, too, the less AP may view him as a feasible option for week 1. It's possible he expected Aiyuk to report to mandatory OTAs...

In which they made offers on multiple FA WRs and drafted a guy in the 3rd round? "Close but no cigar" does not a problem solve, but I don't think it's evident that they're out on Diggs just yet. I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't rule it out, either.

Don't think you can say this until Diggs ends up somewhere. Very possible we're in on him.

This is a bit puzzling and concerning to me. If the Diggs hesitation was character-related, then I get it. But if character isn't an inhibiting factor, then he should absolutely be preferred to Aiyuk. He got 1K yards last season and is known to be one of the most precise and polished route...

I agree with this. It also seemed to be the minority position on the board as of a few months ago in the coaching thread. I will say I think a base case of 7 wins is a tad low, I do think they should be hovering around .500 and in the Wild Card mix as a baseline. But generally speaking, if the...

If that's the outcome, do you fire Quinn? In the coaching thread I seemed to be in the minority position of giving him another year if the team wins more games and looks much better but still fails to make the playoffs. Most seemed to think it was playoffs or bust for DQ. So if your base case...

Yeah I could see it going 1) Terry 2) Antonio 3) the RBs via play-action leaking into the flat when LBs overcommit to the run?

They're listed at the same height. Luke doesn't need to start to be a RZ option. So long as he's suiting up for his return abilities, he could come in on RZ packages. Maybe that's how they justify his roster spot in a crowded if mediocre group.

If they are going to sign Diggs, they should do so quickly. Blough is installing his offense now during OTAs and you want guys to be in the building for that vs. playing catch-up later.
