He’s been traded for literally bags of used footballs. Very marginal trade gains. But he does have some value obviously.
He’s played in actual NFL games and looked much more than competent at times. Having watched some preseason football that puts him head and shoulders above a lot of guys...
Deadlines drive deals. The compelling event here was that checks were on the line for the player and games that matter were on the line for the team. We will see who blinked or if there was a meet in the middle moment when we see the full details lf the agreement.
Glad it’s done and I suspect that ‘up to’ is doing a lot of work in getting the headline number to $96M. Be interesting to see what the breakdown is for guarantees and how many years this deal is really for.
But the important thing is he’s back and we can start to focus on real football!
There are many times that Howell looks like a quality NFL starting QB. Many times in that year he started for us I thought ‘This kid can play’. He made some truly wow throws, led quality drives under pressure and was as tough as nails.
He also takes a gazillion sacks and throws interceptions...
If I’m the the GM I want to know what the answer to the above is before I make my cut decisions. Don’t know if there is a way to force Terry to make the call before the deadline but I’d try.
He will lose around $850k for every game he holds out. Thats money he’s not going to earn back - it’s gone forever. I can’t see the club increasing their offer to the extent he makes back what holding out for two or more games costs him.
If he holds out and costs himself game checks he’s...
I have zero issue with a player trying to maximise his contract and negotiate the best deal he can for himself. It’s a short career - and the clock is ticking for Terry as he hits 30.
But you have to be smart as well. Terrys maximum value and best deal available is likely what is on the table...
I’m always concerned about kickers - it’s such a mental thing. Gay has been a quality kicker but the last two years he’s been low 80’s in FG %. Have to worry if he’s just not mentally the guy he was during the two hot years he has in LA when he was mid 90’s in %.
High odds we have kickers on...
We are a better team with him than without him that’s for sure. But I think Daniels is a QB who will make receivers better - or at least produce better.
Ultimately Terry will play here this season. But it might be his last if he won’t climb down from what he seems to be asking for. And right...
If we can’t trade him we will release him. Which makes it hard to understand why anyone would be willing to pick up his contract paying him $3M and change when he will available off the street for something closer to vet minimum pretty soon.
Only trade I can see happening is a trade for a...
Might say more about were Cosmi really is - and maybe Coleman -and how they feel about depth at guard. Wylie is the swing tackle and he might have to start at guard (or be the primary backup) meaning we needed a swing tackle.
A lot of missing parts on the offense still.
Tunsil and Coleman need to get back, Noah Brown seems to be more serious than we might have thought and I’m assuming they are being careful with Mariota’s calf.
Can’t say I’m looking forward to 3 quarters of Josh Johnson and Sam Hartman playing with...
Sure. But my point is you are finding out how they perform against 2’s and 3’s - not how they perform against starters. So while you do get ‘something’ beyond what they show in practice, I’m not sure it is much more than you already knew from grading them in practice and inter squad scrimmages.
