I’m holding my tongue too, sorry for the derail.

What does success look like in 2026?

Last I looked, Vegas had the over-under at 7.5 wins. I would take the over on that, but I don’t think they’re that far off either.

Maybe we should keep the young guys on the roster after all.

Not to derail, but this one is a specialty of mine. Socrates went to his death willingly. He had at least three opportunities to save himself (fleeing Athens before his trial, choosing exile as an alternative sentence to death during his trial, accepting Crito’s offer to escape prison after his...

Why would signing a declining 33-year old player with off-the-field issues result in trading one of our best young prospects who is having a great camp? Sure, one or two of our WRs is likely to be cut or traded, but I’m pretty confident Luke is not a candidate unless it’s a ridiculously good offer.

It was all but inevitable that we would add a veteran WR at some point. Now it’s done. To me, the best thing about this is that we can finally talk about something else.

Some Luke McCaffery hype Tuesday. Ben Standing called him a standout: https://lastmanstandig.substack.com/p/receiver-battle-heats-up-frankie?r=5rru9i&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&triedRedirect=true Grant Paulsen says he had his best practice in years. The team tweeted him scoring a...

He was 52-60 (87%) his last two years of college. He made that 59-yard kick, multiple game winning kicks, and was kicking from 65+ in practice. He also won major awards (Consensus All-American, 2nd team All-American, Lou Groza award). So there were reasons he was drafted high. His pro career...

Probably worth including Stevens’ college stats here for comparison. Stevens was 78-95 (82%) in college, Moody was 69-84 (82%) in college. You can find the college numbers here: https://www.foxsports.com/college-football/drew-stevens-2-player-stats?category=kicking&seasonType=reg...

This idea Stevens has a stronger leg than Moody is definitely the prevailing wisdom, and there is some limited evidence for that, though I wouldn’t call it conclusive. Moody’s career long is 59 yards in college and 57 in the pros. Stevens career long is 58 in college. So both can hit from 55+...

I agree with this. Luke has had some impact as a receiver catching deep balls, scoring a few touchdowns, and seems to have good hands. Lane has had problems with drops and fumbles. Going on today’s reporting, it sounds like both have picked up where they left off. One thing I will say is both...

I think both kickers are good prospects. Moody was drafted high for a reason and kicked well for us last year. Stephens has a big leg, and you really expect your kicker to have that range at this level, though Moody’s range is better than people think. Reports are both are doing well in camp...

I understand we mostly let that ship sail by after Aiyuk called out Jayden on social media, but it’s probably still within the realm of (remote) possibility. I saw an IG story with him located in DC and his kid in a Commanders hat recently. This was the only tweet I could find about it today:

I’ve heard the same, and I know they’re working out centers and experimenting with Coleman in the position (who I believe played every spot on the line except C in college). With this, I’m left wondering what happened to Matt Gulbin. I thought he was a pretty good C prospect, and you would...

(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

We are probably going to do poorly in any polls related to the brand or uniforms for a long time. Many folks will dislike anything short of going back to Redskins, and understandably so. I also wonder if people are ranking the uniforms with last year’s look in mind, I would expect better with...

For sure Bates is our best TE in pass protection and would be missed, so hopefully he’s okay. I’m just saying Sinnott has some flexibility as a blocker and receiver, so he provides good depth at the position.

Ben Sinnott is a better blocker than you might think. He filled in well for Bates in a couple games last year.

In 2025, our leading rusher was JCM with 805 yards. Chris Rodriguez was second with 500 yards. Our backs and receivers combined for 1,715 yards. So, our quarterbacks only contributed 575 of the team’s 2,290 rushing yards. Now Jayden was our leading rusher in 2024, so maybe that’s what you’re...
