Official Game Thread - Preseason Week 2 - Commander @ Lions

Does anybody else miss the false giddy optimism we used to take into the season?
Sure it was short lived most of the time but it felt better than this.

This is like the definition of doom scrolling.

I know its just being realistic but it still sucks.
If i am going pure optimism.

A. Pass rush snd turnovers. I am jazzed about the defense

B. I think they are finally strong at WR.

the wilcard to me is this - last camp lsst year it was evident that WR was a problem. Peters answer was let it ride. This summer its clear that the O line is an issue - you’d think that Peters learned his lesson and will not let it ride

That doesn't sound like pure optimism.

Try again.😁

I gave two positive things and for the third i said i i suspect Peters handles it this time. Lol thats as good as i get. Defense that could be legit. Weapons good for once. But yeah i dont have a positive spin on the O line

Still excited about some stuff, but it's pretty clear we're not a Superbowl Caliber roster. Lots of pluses...but some glaring issues that well-rounded teams would exploit.

I think it's going to be a fun season, but I'm not really sure what that means for W/L.

Watching an opposing teams broadcast of a pre season game is so nauseating.

If the lions had completed that pass they would have shown it from 5 different angles.

Instead they barely even mentioned it.

I thought it would be hard to top B Mitch as a cheerleader for the team, but Riggo’s like hold my beer.

As for the action on the field, I know it’s completely meaningless like every preseason game but I’m really liking AK16 as well. I think we were all a little baffled by that pick, but it’s easy to see what they saw in him.

True but if u cant protect Jayden I am mixed on this point

Pretty mixed on that one as well. I think they are way too scared of injuries. They are going to happen anyway but one thing we never get to know is how many injuries are prevented by having the team well prepared and in good football shape due to heavy preseason reps.

But on the other hand, the rest of the league is doing pretty much the same thing so I guess we’re all in the same boat.

Agree about being way too scared of injuries. There is a bit of "not wanting to be an outlier" from the coaches IMO.
