Official Game Thread - Preseason Week 2 - Commander @ Lions

The Baltimore scrimmage is going to be a huge test because the starters are not going to get it from the pre season games.

I think Quinn is terrified of getting Daniels hurt. More than he is anxious about getting Daniels work.

Without a true center, and with the way Daniels is performing in camp, I don’t think he wanted Daniels out there.

I get that. I don’t actually care so much about Daniels, I think he’ll be fine. I’m more grumpy other OL came out, JGG is playing at Center. Both of those are head scratching, pretty stupid, losing the forest through the trees moves.

It’s not that. It’s that Hartman is a road to nowhere, and he should not be on any part of the Commanders roster. Or in the NFL. He should be a model for hair products, start an onlyfans page and blow bubbles and make money.

So why the hell are we wasting time on his dumb (though admittedly attractive) ass?
They were both going to play a lot today either way.

We can debate who should play the first half and who should play the second but does it really matter?

These are almost all backups already and soon it'll be all roster bubble and grocery bagger guys.

Im guessing quinn just went with the guy with the most experience first, I doubt it means he favors hartman but we'll see.

And that’s fine, really.

The OL needs work. I think the rest of the offense is going to be fine. They better get the work somehow because if the OL stinks, it’s going to be a real problem with this run first style offense. If you can’t run, then the PA can be less effective, and your protection is not going to hold up.

In my ideal world, Hartman wouldn’t play at all today, it would have been entirely JD for a drive and AK for the rest of the game.

There’s no reason to play a player who shouldn’t be in the NFL.

The other possibility is they are trying to hide AK so they can sneak him to the practice squad. I guess that’s a theory.

I just don’t want Hartman anywhere near this team.

Without an OL, JD will get hurt unfortunately.
He might and marriota might be able to win us a few games but if we get to an undrafted rookie as our starting quarterback I promise you we'll be debating draft position and half the board will be hoping for losses anyway.

The problem for me is a flat offense in September could put us in a massive hole early. We can’t afford to come out of September 1-3 or 0-4.

I understand not wanting to get people hurt, but you don’t want your starters getting their first real world reps in 2026 in Philadelphia on opening day. There is no reason not to believe that teams are not gonna blitz the hell out of us right from jump unless they show they can do something to stop it.

I think Jones has called off the dogs already. We’re playing much more of a passive style, which is not what we’re going to play in the regular season. They saw what they want with style, now it’s back to more of a traditional defense.

Jean-Baptiste was a sneaky big loss for us when he got hurt last year. (Along with every DE on the team.)

And Brian Mitchell just made the same point I made 3 minutes ago on the broadcast. I guess I’ll take that as I was right.

There's a world where they like what they see in him but want to bring him along slowly and figure this is hartmans last chance where as AK has all the time in the world to develop so why not toss hartman out there to take the beating since he's gone soon anyway.

Watching out of the corner of my eye. The OL is really bad.
