The Jayden Daniels Tracker

"Daniels contacted LSU leadership before fall camp. Lane Kiffin has personally spoken to Daniels."

With Daniels getting involved in it personally, I can't find a way to still blame just his mother. Looks dumb, weird, and misplaced. If he balls this season like he has in training camp, whatever. If he doesn't, it tarnishes him a little.

I still think this impacts nothing to do with our team and what transpires with it moving forward. While I won’t be surprised if Agent Mom is being extra, I’d bet there’s a lot more to unpack as to how they arrived here. My guess would be that the Kiffin/Daniels conversation went bad like most conversations with Kiffin tend to do.

lol this is a Brian Kelly issue, not Kiffin. Kelly is the one who recruited both Pickett and Jayden. Lane owes Jayden nothing. LSU made Jayden, not the other way around. They went full steam on the Heisman campaign for him. Just another stain on BK’s time here. No one player is bigger than the program, not even Burrow. Now I’m all for having Jayden’s jersey retired one day but this is just a terrible look on his part.

I’m not saying Kiffin owes JD anything. No clue what the context of any of this is. But Lane is a certified douche so I’m not surprised things went sideways.

Lane's a dick, so he probably did something

I can certainly understand the disdain for Kiffin haha. But he’s going to absolutely crush for us. Green is going to break some single season TE records in this offense.

Jayden wanting LSU’s copy of the Heisman is insanity too by the way.

Sigh.

I mean, why does this always have to happen to us?

I will make a few short points:

1. I actually don't think this matters from a football perspective at all.
2. However, it's going to annoy both Jayden and also teammates who are going to be asked for it. Is it a distraction? I don't know. It's definitely going to be an annoyance which is not really needed.
3. There's more here than meets the eye. This didn't just drop out of thin air, there have probably been multiple conversations and some negotiations beforehand which apparently didn't go so well to end up here.
4. It's clearly all about the money. Daniels' camp does not want LSU from profiting off of his NIL without him getting some cut of it. Some might say there's some other hidden thing, and Daniels feels slighted, or whatever. I think it's all about the money.
5. The "return the Heisman" thing is petty bullshit, if true.

While we are speculating, I think it’s only about the money now - because LSU/Lane/etc. didn’t do what Daniels believed they should/agreed to do. The NIL money is the leverage and they are using it because that’s likely all they have.

Jayden demands this, Jayden is saying that… please replace Jayden’s name with momma Jayden. Whatever her name is

I recall during the lead up to the 2024 draft my feeling that JD5 was somewhat of a diva. I didn’t follow his LSU career closely but my sense of things was based on

1) his ASU teammates reportedly trashing him in the locker room
2) his agent posting 🤔 in response to reports about JD5 being unhappy with the Commanders top golf prospect party
3) multiple reports about his preference for other teams over WSH when it was becoming the obvious we were going to take him
4) grumblings about his mom being a headache for the ASU staff

Then we drafted him, he comes in and does nothing but completely undermine that diva perception I had of him both with his words and more importantly with his actions.

Meanwhile his mom is clearly a fan of the spotlight. So if you’re telling me that Jayden is a think-skinned, egomaniac, I’m telling you that you’re directing your ire on the wrong person.

I wouldn’t be shocked if JD5 had zero clue this C&D letter was in the works.

It’s a shame he has chuckleheads representing him - I don’t think this was a smart move. But I feel 0% differently about JD5 today than I did yesterday.

Part of the point of having “a team” is to be able to distance yourself from them while they handle business. It won’t work in the eyes of most of the public, he’s getting killed on social media. But it’s part of the appeal of having “people”

Yeah. This is the kind of thing though where when things backfire it's good to fire your people. Not sure if "his people" always equals his mother, but if it does, that is one weakness to family representation.

So yeah, there you go. Of course that didn’t come from him. He’s too busy with training camp. But now here he is having to take time out from training camp to basically apologize to LSU for what his “team” *ahem Mom* has done.
No big deal and I really don’t care at all if he’s getting blasted on social media and hopefully neither does he. But I’m telling you no good is going to come from this. He really needs to put his career in the hands of professionals, and in my opinion his mother is being super selfish by not just stepping aside. He’s an adult for crying out loud.

Have thought this for some time now, but I fully expect future contract negotiations with regard to Jayden being very challenging to say the least.

If you believe this, it contradicts everything previously reported
