I hear you and agree to a large extent. Where I am cominng from is my own experience watching camp -- the easiest spots to asses for me were QB, CB, WR -- and all my takes in real time on those spots aged well. Not because I am a savant but because if you watch enough practices those spots are tough to get wrong.

RB and O line and D line I find hard in camp. You have to extraplote. But watching QBs as to accuracy -- not hard from my experience. Watching Wrs versus CBs also not hard.

I don't agree with Josh on all his takes. But watching him on and off especially about the draft -- he's at a minimum thougtful and leans to the sunny side about this team. So lol when he's negative it gets my attention.

And I agree no reporter or fan has some perfect way to evaluate camp. But I do think some spots -- namely QB, CB, WR are easier to judge than others in camp.

And for me I tried to watch with an open mind without any confirmation bias. Case in point I was high on the Fitz singing -- yet watching him in camp it was tough to miss how erratic his accuracy was and I commented on it. And again I am no expert but it wasn't hard to see.

And like I mentioned it was easy for me to see their shiny new toy William Jackson was getting destoyed by our WRs in camp, it was a joke, i talked about on ES back then.

Personally, I would think very hard about giving Connerly a serious shot at LT while Tunsil is gone. In 2024, Wylie started at RT. He managed well enough the team made a playoff run. I doubt he's gotten better, but I wouldn't want a worse player at LT. That, or Coleman shifts positions again.
 
Horrible luck on Tunsil’s injury. We lost one of our best players before he took a snap on his new contract. I hate that this kind of thing keeps happening to us.

The good news is we have options to replace him and remain serviceable. We can make it work by shuffling around some combo of Wylie, Coleman, and Conerly. It will be interesting to see what we do there.

The bad news is the line goes from a position of strength to adequate at best. With what was meant to be quality depth being elevated to starters, we will likely need to add an OL in case somebody else goes down.

I’m sorry, but Brandon Coleman should be given every opportunity to win the LT job at this point. We used the 67th overall pick on the guy in 2024. A guy picked on day two of the draft should more often than not become a starter/important contributor for your team. He started 12 games in ‘24 and started the NFC Championship game. He had the second lowest pressure rate (6%) among rookie linemen with significant playing time in 2024. He may have not been flawless in his rookie year, but there was enough of a foundation on which to build and develop that should allow him to beat out a guy like Wylie. If he doesn’t, that’s a missed draft choice in my opinion.

Agreed, he is one of our few blue chip players at a vital position, just horrible luck. A slight silver lining is that we have a good enough roster that we have passable backup options, but no doubt this makes us a worse team.
 
Damn. Just when we had the Oline set and ready. Wasn’t going to be a concern. What a gut punch.
