Your thoughts on the running back room

Welcome back from your cryo-freeze, this has been the trend in the NFL for more than a decade now. There’s a few stud bellcows and then the rest of the league runs on RBBC.

Who’s the president of the United States of America?
What years is it ?
Where at I ?

My point is I think there is no clear #1 running back in the room and wondered what the fans think

Bill is all upside and promise. If he continues to develop he should wind up being a solid asset to us.

But I’m not sold on him through the end of last year.

I like the room in totality. I think it’s got decent depth. I just don’t see anybody who sets it apart.

Injuries won’t derail us. But the overall potential is fairly low unless Bill and Kaytron break out.

Agree 100 percent we have no clear cut #1 in the running back rotation

I just hope that at least one of them is good enough so that JD isn't the leading rusher this year like he was in 2024.

To be fair, Jayden had nearly 900 rushing yards that year, and our RBBC was led by Brian Robinson, who did manage 800 yards. Ekeler and McNichols also chipped in another 650 between them, and we ended up second or third in the league in rushing I believe.

It would be awesome to have a 1,000 yard rusher again though, a rare occurrence in the last decade, so I agree with you there. The last three to reach that mark were Alfred Morris (2014), Adrian Peterson (2018), and Antonio Gibson (2021).

I don’t know if we have that guy this year, but I think Bill will get his shot. He did manage 800 last year and average 4.6 yards per carry. He has great speed, agility, and heart. He will need to prove he is not a liability with ball security and in the passing game, but he’s the most exciting player to watch.

I expect Rachaad White to be more of a receiving back, as he averages 50 catches per year, but he is likely to be a big part of the offense. Not only is he a good third down back, but he’s a vet and has history with Jayden. He could even start if Bill falters, but I hope not because he only averaged 3.6 yards per rush in the one year he had more than 200 carries.

Ford and McNichols both look like quality depth/competion to me. They’ve both proven they can play when given opportunities, but they’re on the bubble.

Kaytron Allen intrigues me. He piled up a lot of yards at Penn State, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Saquon Barkley, could just as easily be Evan Royster. What I really like is his vision, if you watch his highlights this is clearly a huge strength, he really knows how to set up and follow blocks. He’s also more of a bruiser than the others on our roster. Allen is probably also competing for a roster spot, but I look forward to seeing what he has this preseason.
