AP - we're getting our pitchforks ready if you don't sign Diggs!

This is the most obvious move to make.

Clowns or not, they did hit on a number of pretty straight forward issues and positives about the team. Quite frankly, adding Diggs is indeed a Captain Obvious move.
 
Let's say in the end they sign Diggs. Which, I think they're going to do. I think he wants to be here, and eventually, they're going to want another proven vet in the room other than Terry.

If you look into your crystal ball, what's the net results effect of Diggs vs. no-Diggs. And who doesn't make the team because of it?
 
Strangely, I think Bates injury may put more pressure on Peters to sign Diggs than Burks.

If they really had been content with the idea of 2 WR 2TE sets, then losing a TE may upset that.

It's probably me but I am confused by your post.

DId Bates get injured?

Where you say Peers would have more pressure to sign Diggs than Burks, do mean more pressure to sign Diggs than keep Burks?

The Bates injury has more impact than the Burks injury. Worded badly....

Yeah the Burks injury which may not be anything, almost feels inevitable based on his history. It's kind of like Noah Brown.

This is also a good spot to note that many of us have a lot of hopes riding on Antonio Williams success. A reminder, he has also had an injury history from college so fingers will be crossed he can hold up in the pros

Yeah I know he is a pretty good blocker and better on the move. Bates is superior holding up as an inline blocker though
 
I think of Bates as a modern day Donnie Warren.

For sure Bates is our best TE in pass protection and would be missed, so hopefully he’s okay. I’m just saying Sinnott has some flexibility as a blocker and receiver, so he provides good depth at the position.
 
Bates injury is sneaky important. They're probably going to try and run some 13 personnel this year with 3 TEs, with all of Chig, Bates and Sinnott + Terry. The Rams did a ton of that last year. Bates is the best run blocker on the team outside of the OL.

He also seems to banged up a bunch. Hamstring injury this early in camp is not really great.

I really do hope they run that set a bunch. Especially with White at RB. Of the 5 skill position players, you'd have 3 really good receivers (McLaurin, Chig and White), one really good blocker (Bates), and one guy who's good at both but not great at either (Sinnott).

Defenses would have to play base against, it, so you'd be able to get LBs matched up on somebody, and that might be a mismatch. Or you could just run, and they're all somewhere between "willing" and "good" blockers.
 
I feel like AP really wanted the current crew to work out, but early returns indicate that’s not going to happen. Have to pull the trigger on Diggs before a team loses their 1 or 2 in camp and signs him.

What makes you say early indications are it’s not working?

Serious question. I haven’t seen any reports that the WRs look bad, but I also haven’t seen all the reports…
